AI companion technology company Genies has launched a new creation tools product that allows celebrities and talent management organizations to develop “expressive AI identities” that can talk and engage with fans.
Genies, which counts Disney CEO Bob Iger among its investors, says it has “built the technology and framework to scale specifically for major talent organizations.” “Through AI Companion’s auto-generation technology and self-service tools, these organizations can instantly replicate entire rosters of thousands of people while empowering each individual to manage their own AI Companion through a dedicated portal,” Genies said.

Genies AI Companions are based on Looks, Brains, Actions, and Play, all of which can be customized by creators in a six-step process. Once you create an AI avatar, it becomes a game-ready asset that you can use to chat with your fans as well as interact within your app or game.
As the use of generative AI increases, leading to lawsuits over rights of publicity and IP infringement, Genies says, “For the next era of fan engagement, we are packaging AI in an IP-safe digital asset framework. This framework is built from the ground up to ensure all digital identities are properly protected and authentically leveraged, while empowering talent to reap the benefits of AI.”
“We are entering an era where the rules of digital identity, likeness and creative ownership are being rewritten,” said Jake Becker, director of business development and strategy at Genie’s. “As platforms like OpenAI’s Sora face questions about non-consensual likeness use and talent agencies seek to enforce the rights of their clients, the need for control and protection has never been clearer. Build clear guardrails and controls so you can safely engage with your audience while maintaining ownership of your digital self and unlocking new and authentic ways to connect and monetize.”
