Adele was approached about playing the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, an insider tells Page 6, but she is not booked to play the gig.
Rumors are swirling that Adele could snatch the field of the big game in Santa Clara, California next February, and we’ve heard she’s in discussion.
However, the Buzz Halftime candidates include Kansas City Chiefs fan Taylor Swift, as well as “Party in the America” singer Miley Cyrus.
Adele’s fiancee Rich Paul is one of the sport’s biggest agents, and the British crooner has previously participated in the Super Bowl as a fan. But she told fans at a Las Vegas gig in 2024.
She also said before the match at the live show, “I’m just going for Rihanna. I won’t give you a flying F-K.”
Either way, NFL insiders are buzzing about Adele being a pick to play this year’s gig, but another source close to the show says Adele hasn’t officially booked.
The “Hello” singer says she previously turned down a gig at the 2017 game. She told the Los Angeles crowd in 2016:
However, the NFL and sponsor Pepsi denied the claim by commenting, “I have had conversations with some artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show, but at this time I have not expanded my formal offer to Adele or others.”
Performers will be selected by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in collaboration with the NFL and will usually be announced in September.
Earlier this month, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at the prospect of Swift taking the stage.
He told Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s “Today” Swift. “She’s a special and special talent, and obviously she’ll always be welcomed.”
When Guthrie pushed Diet on him, the NFL boss said, “I can’t say anything about it… that’s probably.”
He also added on the morning show, “I’m waiting for my friend Jay Z to be able to help me…it’s in his hands.”
The singer’s representative did not comment.
