Actors who play the late John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette attended the New York City premiere of Ryan Murphy’s new FX show Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette held at the iconic Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, February 3.
Sarah Pidgeon wore an Art Deco-style dress with a black diamond bead pattern, a black bow down the front, and feathery white trim. Pidgeon, 29, whose previous credits include The Wilds and 2025’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, will star as Bessette. She was nominated for a Tony Award in 2024 for her performance in the Broadway musical “Stereophonic.”
Paul Anthony Kelly opted for a classic silhouette of a black suit and crisp white shirt, unbuttoned and without a tie. JFK Jr. will be Kelly’s first major role in Hollywood.

The show will follow the whirlwind romance of a real couple who gained national attention because JFK Jr. was the only son of the late President John F. Kennedy. Bessette has been an air of mystery since the pair married in a secret wedding in 1996, but she never gave interviews until 1999, when she died along with JFK Jr. in a plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

In a recently released trailer for the show, inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book Once Upon a Time: The Fascinating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, JFK Jr. (Kelly) is described as America’s “fittest bachelor” after the nation watches the assassinated president’s son grow into a striking young man.
Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon), on the other hand, is a confident, independent woman who rises through the ranks at Calvin Klein and quickly becomes the designer’s own trusted executive.

Once the two are formally introduced, JFK Jr. can’t help but pursue the beautiful fashion executive at work, and a courtship begins. When Bessette outfits him in a new suit, their connection becomes evident in a moment recreated in the trailer.
