According to Kobis, a tracking service run by the Korean Film Council, “Boss” won $4.5 million on October 3-5, from 666,679 admissions, and directed 31.5% of weekend sales on 1,168 screens.
The action comedy directed by Ra Hee-chan, soon starred Jung Kyung-Ho as Jo Woo-Jin, Kang-Pyo, Park Ji-Hwan from Pan-Ho and Lee Kyu-Hyung from Tae-Gyu. The film, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival, oddly centers around gangster underlings who compete to avoid becoming bosses while pursuing personal ambitions.
Park Chan-Wook’s “No Other Choice” moved second with a 22.5% share of $3.2 million (458,582 admissions). The title, released on September 24th, is currently $12.8 million. Lee Byung-Hun plays Man-Su, a laidback paper manufacturing expert who resorts to serial killings to eliminate competitors for the opening of a single job, just to discover a position to oversee AI testing.
Third, Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc added $2.7 million (352,673 admissions) with a share of 18.9% after 12 days and a cumulative $8.1 million. The film adapts Fujimoto’s Tamichi hit manga “reze” arc. The film, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and written by Hiroshi Seko, follows Denji as his encounter with Café Worker Reze leads to a clash of intimate connections and bloody chaos. Audio cast includes Reina Ueda, Fairouz Ai, Tomori kusunoki, and Maaya uchida.
Japanese juggernaut “Demon Slayer: Kimet No Yaiba – Movie: Infinity Castle” ranked fourth with $942,292 (125,653 entry), increasing the local total to $39.7 million. “One Battle Afterluse” came in fifth place with $694,006 (88,306 entry), while the family animation “Bread Barbershop: The Bakerytown Baddies” reached sixth at $414,864, reaching $936,673.
Korean animation “Your Letter” debuted seventh at $351,769 (51,755 admission). Directed by Kim Yong-Hwan and features audio performances by Lee Su-Hyun, Kim Min-Ju, Min Seungwoo and Nam Doh-Hyeong, based on Cho Hyun-Ah’s Webtoon. The story continues with the sled. After forwarding the school, Soli finds a mysterious letter from the residents of the desk in front, prompting her to explore hidden letters and personal discoveries.
Yeon Sang-Ho’s “The Ugly” followed in the eighth with $303,278 (43,482 entry), pushing that tally to $7.2 million. The film stars Park Jeong-Min along with Kwon Hae-Hyo, Shin Hyun-Been, Im Seong-Jae and Han Ji-Hyun. This plot follows Dong Han, the son of a visually impaired seal sculptor.
“Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” came in ninth place with $250,182 (38,004 entry), while the Korean family animation “Delivery Market” rounded out the top 10 with $83,014 (13,285 entry) for a total of $85,876.
The top 10 films totaled $103.6 million over the weekend, up from the previous frame’s $9.6 million, making it one of the best weekends of the year.
