The Oscars have set the dates for their 99th awards ceremony and historic 100th anniversary celebration.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has scheduled the 99th Oscar Awards and 100th Oscar Awards for 2027 and 2028. For the final two years, the telecast will air on longtime distributor ABC before moving to YouTube.
The 99th Oscar Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2027, followed by the 100th Oscar Ceremony on Sunday, March 5, 2028. Both awards ceremonies will be broadcast live on ABC starting at 7pm ET and broadcast from the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood to more than 200 locations around the world. The Academy recently announced that the Oscars ceremony will move from the Dolby Theater to the Peacock Theater starting in 2029, and the ceremony will continue there until 2039.
Notably, ABC’s first-quarter 2027 schedule includes its first appearance as a distributor at the Grammy Awards on February 7, which will also be streamed on Hulu and Disney+ under a new 10-year deal through 2036, ending a 54-year partnership with CBS. ABC will also televise Super Bowl XI on February 14, marking the network’s first broadcast of the NFL Championship Game since 2006.
At this year’s Academy Awards telecast, Paul Thomas Anderson’s action blockbuster “One Battle After Another” won Best Picture and attracted 17.86 million viewers on ABC and Hulu. The numbers were down 9% from last year’s 19.7 million viewers, the highest for the ceremony in five years. The 2026 nominees already have high expectations thanks to box office hits like Ryan Gosling’s space drama Project Hail Mary and anticipated films like Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part 3, starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger, starring Tom Cruise.
Hosts for either future ceremonies have not yet been announced.
Additionally, Oscar announced key dates for the upcoming 2026-2027 Oscar season.
