You need to know

Pukanakua is one of six brothers. The Rams wide receiver has four brothers: Kai, Isaiah, Samson and Tay.

Puka Nakua has intense love for his brother to come and go to the field.

The Los Angeles Rams star was born on May 29, 2001 to Penina and Lionel Naqua, and is the second youngest of six children. Puka’s brothers include his four brothers, Kai, Isaiah, Samson and Tay, and his sister, Chanel.

Naqua’s brothers grew up in Las Vegas and Provo, Utah, and his father, who died of complications from diabetes in May 2012, trained his sons. All five Naquah sons played football for Brigham Young University (BYU). Like Puka, Kai and Samson, they played in the NFL.

“Lionel was an old school where they were going to get stronger. They’re going to get bigger. They’re going to ball out,” Penina told Deseret News in January 2024.

So who is Puka Nakua’s brother? Here’s what you need to know about his brothers, Kai, Isaiah, Samson, Tay and sister Chanel.

Chanel Naqua

Chanel is a penis and is Lionel Naqua’s eldest son and only daughter. She lives a quiet life, including her private Instagram account.

Chanel is the mother of one child, daughter Coco Laulile, according to Deseret News. Chanel, her boyfriend, Coco, all saw Puka’s first NFL touchdown from Penina’s home in Provo, Utah, as did three Chanel’s brothers.

“We were literally jumping off the couch and screaming. We were crying as we watched Puka on TV and were scoring our final touchdown to win the game by watching him with his element, which we told the New York Post in October 2023.

The oldest Kaimana of the Naqua Brothers, “Kai” Kenneth Naqua was born in Las Vegas on March 3, 1995, by Fox Sports. He attended Liberty High School and is written in soccer, basketball and volleyball, according to Athlete Bio.

Kai was a defensive back at BYU, where he majored in athletics and wellness. He played 46 games, started with 24 and had 14 career interceptions.

From 2017 to 2022, Kai played in the NFL. He stinted with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets, and was in training squads for the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers.

He made his UFL debut with the Michigan Panthers in 2024, becoming a teammate with his younger brother Samson.

Kai has had a steady influence on Puka’s life. He encouraged his brother to stay positive during the NFL Draft, and continued to do so when Puka made his debut with the Rams in 2023.

According to Ringer, Kai once told Puka “Your interview every day (in the NFL)” and “Everyone can do it once, but let’s see how consistent you are. That’s what greats do.”

Kai married aesthetician Alexa Reveles Naquah on April 6, 2018, according to Instagram. The couple shares two children, their sons Kaimana Kennethnakua Jr. and Mateolo Dolfonakua, born in April 2020 and December 2023, respectively.

Isaiah Naqua

Isaiah, the second oldest brother of Naqua, played football at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas before graduating from Thimpview High School in Provo, Utah.

“We really didn’t like any of us despite being an LDS (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter-day Saints),” Penina told the outlet in February 2014.

Lionel took Kai and Isaiah to BYU camp shortly before his death, and both sons were to play for the Cougars. Kai and Isaiah formally accepted the scholarship offer in June 2012. Kai had retained his commitment after receiving the other offers, but Isaiah began to question him.

“Of all my boys, Isaiah is a bit of a knucklehead,” Penina told Deseret News. “He was the middle child, and he was meant to come up with things himself and do it the way we said. He’s always got to brush off what he’s telling him and just do it the way he does. That’s his way.”

After a tough conversation with his future BYU head coach, Isaiah eventually became a cougar. He was a defensive lineman for one season before withdrawing from the program in 2015, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

According to KSL, after withdrawing from the team, Isaiah had planned to attend Snow College, but he did so by putting in a mission paper to serve in Colorado.

According to Fox Sports, Samson Lionel Nacua was born in Las Vegas on January 20, 1998. He later moved to Provo with his family, where he was Timpview High’s first team all-state football player, according to Deseret News.

Samson began his college career at the University of Utah. He played for UTES from 2016 to 2020, leading the team with touchdowns in 2018 and 2019. There, he majored in sociology, according to Athlete Bio.

Both he and Puka, who began their college careers at Washington University, moved to BYU in 2021 after his grandmother, Faatamari Saar, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2021. She passed away that September.

After playing his final college season as a wide receiver with BYU, Samson was not drafted into the NFL in 2022. He later signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent, but was cut before the regular season began.

In 2023 he joined the UFL and played for the Pittsburgh Maurers. The following year he joined the league’s Michigan Panthers with brother Kai, earning 11 receptions for a total of 125 yards, according to sports illustration.

In 2024, Samson returned to the NFL when he was signed to the Saints of New Orleans, but was abandoned in late August. He re-signed the Panthers that September and once again became a teammate with his brother Kai.

Samson always stood behind Puka. In December 2018, he told Deseret News that he was most impressed with his younger brother’s work ethic.

“I think he does more work than anyone I know,” Samson said of Puka.

Born in Provo, Teinaqua is the youngest of Naqua’s brothers.

According to Deseret News, TEI graduated from Timpview High in 2024. In December 2023, TEI followed in the footsteps of his brothers and committed to BYU.

After signing with the Cougars, Tay wrote to X, “I continue the dream that my father started with my brother who doesn’t realize that our young boys follow the inheritance.”

In the past, he regularly shares posts boasting about his brother Puka’s NFL admiration.

“The best, learn from witnessing more,” he wrote in X in September 2023.

Puka publicly returned her love for her younger brother.

The Rams star told KSLTV in July 2024.
