Blanco, born in Benjamin Levin, was raised by his parents between Virginia and Maryland.

Before he became one of pop music’s most prolific record producers and songwriters today, Blanco told the New York Times that Britney Spears, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Halsey were “a child of the Chubby Jews of Virginia.”

“My mother is my best friend,” he told people in 2024. “Every Sunday we go to the farmer’s market. I make her lunch, swim, we gossip about things. She sends things to me and says, ‘Do you think that’s true?’ I say, ‘I don’t even know who the two we’re talking about are.’

Sandra and Andrew have two sons

Slanco’s parents welcomed producer brother Jeremy before Slanco was born in March 1988. Just as he credits his parents, the “East Side” artist says his siblings got hooked on him as a child by bringing him to a record store as a child.

Today, Jeremy is involved in Blanco’s production and songwriting career, overseeing Blanco’s interviews, photo shoots and demonstration judging, according to Northern Virginia.

They did a normal job

According to a 2018 interview with the New York Times, Blanco said Sandra worked in a living aid facility and Andrew had a career in the “intimate apparel business.”

When his mom wasn’t working, the music producer recalled that she played Prince’s 1992 Love Symbol, one of her favourite albums that were totally exploding at home. “I wore underwear and danced to be ‘sexy midfielders’ when there were guests,” Blanco said in a July 2011 interview with Northern Virginia magazine. “My mother always said I was pretty quirky.”

Sandra and Andrew are divorced

In an interview with Instyle in June 2025, Blanco revealed that their parents were divorced. Although the marriage is over, the songwriter stated that he cherished his mother’s relationship advice and believed that she falsified her optimistic views on life.

“My mother had been experiencing so many dating traumas when I was growing up, so I took the time to explain how women’s minds work,” Blanco said. He added that she taught him to find good resilience every day. “I had some tough times, but I’ve always been a very happy person. I wake up and wake up every day.”

They sparked Benny’s passion for music

Even before Blanco discovered the prince, he was drawn to music. And he is widely spoken about how his parents and siblings’ music sparks his passion in his youth.

“I was obsessed with music because I was like a baby. I always pounded pots and pans,” he told Augustman in January 2021.

Slanco was so fascinated by music that he began producing his own songs when he was in elementary school. “I was really into it, and I was making small songs when I was five or six. And I won a contest when I was nine to go to the studio and recorded my first song,” recalls Blanco. He said, “I was just on the moon! I was just going to make music, and I never looked back.”

They inspired his cookbook recipes

In 2024, Blanco and co-author Jess Damuck published Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends. The producer told Hey Alma in April 2024 that his Ashkenazi Jewish heritage had an impact on the cookbook.

The Cookbook features an entire section dedicated to Jewish cuisine, with recipes such as homemade pastormi and latex. Blanco said his favorite Jewish recipe was his mom Kugel. “My mother is a terrible cook, but it feels like the Jewish fairy has a bit of a Kugel recipe on her notebook card when she turns 50.

In addition to recipes, Blanco shares his favourite childhood memories surrounding food, including regular visits to local Jewish delis with his father, as well as regular visits to local Jewish delis that he lost when his family died.

Sandra supports her relationship with Selena Gomez

Slanco’s mom is very adored by her fiancé Serena Gomez, and wears a special couple memorabilia around her neck. In April 2025, Gomez included a video of one of Sandra and Jeremy’s children in an Instagram post. This footage shows Sandra’s grandson lying on her lap, playing with a necklace. And the child was particularly fascinated by the rocket, which contained pictures of “Uncle and Serena.”
