ABC doesn’t have a good option to resolve Jimmy Kimmel’s crisis

Will ABC get Jimmy Kimmel back?

As of Friday morning, there were no official signs in any way after Kimmel and his representatives were told they had met with Disney executives on Thursday afternoon to discuss his status. But what’s clear is that ABC faces a situation that you don’t care about, given the inflamed passion of all aspects of this situation, which was sparked by Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk.

Back if ABC is on the path to bringing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, the network and parent Disney risks exacerbating conservatives who called out Kimmel’s head, including the attack dog that Trump and his attack dog pulled Brendan Kerr, pulling a sled at the FCC.

Meanwhile, if ABC chooses to part with Kimmel, it will be accused of as a cave by the people on the left by Trump’s pressure. Kimmel’s suspension has prompted criticism from many Hollywood guilds and protests in LA and New York. Disney has already been dumped for the media giants realising that after ABC News Anchor George Stephanopuurus falsely claimed in March 2024 that Trump was responsible in court for rape writer E. jean carroll, he agreed to pay the president a $15 million settlement, which he was aware of. Legal experts said there are cases where ABCs are likely to win.

In short, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden meet the rage of months or years to decide which course they take. Consumers have already been boycotting Disney theme parks and threatening to protest Kimmel’s bench by canceling Disney+ or full subscriptions.

In the past, TV personality, which has made controversial comments and jokes, including David Letterman and Samantha Bee, has been able to fully apologise and restore status (and on-air work). But in Kimmel, the situation may not be reconciled.

Many on the right are already talking about Kimmel, as if he’s already been x, including Trump. Kimmel was “dismissed for a worse rating than anyone else,” Trump said at a British press conference Thursday, adding that Kimmel was “a horrifying thing about a gentleman called Charlie Kirk.”

Kimmel did not directly comment on Kirk himself on Monday’s episode of his show. Here’s what Kimmel said on the show on September 15th: “We struck out a few new lows over the weekend, desperately trying to characterise the child who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than them, and then do everything we could to score political points.” Issue: Magazine supporters interpreted Kimmel as saying that Kirk’s assassin was “one of them.” The problem is that authorities already told Kirk he had a “left ideology.”

What appears to have angered the Magaball is that Kimmel laughed at Trump’s response to a reporter’s question about the White House’s rationale about how the president “holds in” after Kirk’s assassination. Kimmel played a clip of Trump. “I think it’s very good. And by the way, do you see all the trucks there? They’re just starting to build a new White House ballroom. Kimmel said, “Yes, he’s in the fourth stage of sadness: construction. demolition, construction,” Kimmel said. “This is not a way for adults to grieve for the murder of someone called their friends. This is how a four-year-old child grieves the goldfish.”

Right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson hosted an interview with Carr that led to Kimmel’s suspension by ABC and posted it to X. He has now been cancelled and is unemployed. ”

If it turns out Kimmel hasn’t actually been “cancelled”, then it’s safe to say that the maga gang will be an apop trick.

A key part of the Kimmel Crisis story is the clear threat that FCC Carr puts on to ABC and its affiliates, if they weren’t “take action” in Kimmel (i.e. broadcasting his show). “We can do this in an easy or difficult way. These companies can frankly find ways to change their behavior and take action at Kimmel. Following Kerr’s comments, television station groups Nexstar Media and Sinclair both announced they would drop “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” immediately. Nexstar’s $6.2 billion acquisition of Tegna requires FCC approval, but the company said Carr’s comments on Kimmel would not affect its decision to draw the show.

Some Congressional Democrats have called for Kerr to step down and claim they have not used their position at the FCC to put pressure on television broadcasters to blacklist programming. The realization is that Nexstar and Sinclair are trying to curry favor with Carr in the hopes that he can remove ownership of the agency. In June, the FCC launched an initiative seeking public comment on whether it would “change, retain or eliminate” the cap that reached a national audience of 39% of local television ownership.

Trump raised the temperature Thursday by warning that the FCC might revoke the station’s license that criticizes him. “They only give me bad news,” he said, claiming that 97% of broadcast news coverage were “opposed to me.” “They have licenses. I think their licenses should probably be taken away. It’s up to Brendan Kerr. I think Brendan Kerr is outstanding. He’s a patriot. He loves our country and he’s a tough guy. Note that ABC doesn’t have a national “licensing.” As the FCC grants licenses to local broadcasters, it is unclear how the Trump administration will run a campaign to punish broadcasters who broadcast presidential differences.

But for ABC, from a business standpoint, it doesn’t matter why NextStar (32 ABC affiliates) and Sinclair (38 ABC affiliates, including WJLA in Washington, DC) boycotted Kimmel. Both of these companies represent about a third of ABC’s national branches, and if their affiliates refuse to carry Kimmel in the future, the valuation and advertising dollars will suffer.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar broadcasts, said Wednesday that its ABC affiliate called Kimmel’s show “Cooler Heads will win.” Nexstar suggests that they may consider reviving “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

However, Sinclair, known for his conservative politics, issued a request that Kimmel could not agree to. Sinclair said Kimmel had to apologise to Kirk’s family and send “meaningful personal donations” to them and Turning Point USA.

Sinclair said he wouldn’t lift the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” stop. Until a formal discussion was held with the ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability at our station. ” On Friday, Sinclair will replace “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” A time slot with a Charlie Kirk homage special on ABC’s affiliate station.

Jimmy Kimmel expressed hope that if Trump came after him, the righteous person would support my rights for free speech, but opposition occurred.
