Mothers always know best.
A$AP Rocky revealed that his mother, Lenny Black, asked him to date Rihanna long before she became the rapper’s partner and the mother of his child.
“My mom used to say, ‘I know you like this girl you’re with right now’ — she won’t say her name — ‘but I want you to be with RiRi,'” he told The New York Times’ “Popcast” on Thursday.
“I’m like, ‘Mom, why do you keep saying that? She doesn’t want that for me,'” he said.
“Mothers know best,” he said, adding, “I’m grateful that[Rihanna]was in my life at that time, because I don’t think I was ready for something like that before that, and I don’t think she was either.”
Rocky, 37, and Rihanna, also 37, were longtime friends for nearly a decade before they decided to pursue a romantic relationship in 2020.
But elsewhere in the interview, the “A$AP Forever” star said the singer “was always a boo to me” and “always had sex with her.”
“We were on the same page. We were born in the same year. My father is from her country…When you go back, you see both sides of the family. There are so many similarities, it’s just funny. We laugh about it a lot,” he said of their similarities.
The couple have had three children since they started dating. Their sons are RZA Athelston (3 years old) and Riot Rhodes (2 years old). and their 4-month-old daughter Rocky Irish.
And it looks like the parents aren’t finished expanding their family yet. Earlier this week, Rihanna hinted that she was ready to welcome her fourth child.
The ‘Love on the Brain’ hitmaker was spotted questioning ‘Do you want to be hot and sexy or pregnant in 2026’ in the comments section of ‘Love Island’ alumnus Montana Brown’s post.
“Wait! So I’m not crazy? Surely!” the “Umbrella” singer commented on Brown’s post.
