A24 has released the official trailer for Michael Sarnosky’s The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman as the titular outlaw.
According to the official logline, this darker reimagining of the Robin Hood legend will see the protagonist “struggle with his past after a life of crime and murder.” Unlike most of the legendary outlaws before him, Jackman’s Robin Hood is “a battle-weary loner, gravely wounded, and offered a chance at redemption by a mysterious woman.”
In addition to Jackman, the A24 thriller also stars Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, 28 Years Later), Bill Skarsgard (Nosferatu, IT), Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy) and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, Welcome to Chippendales). The film is written and directed by Sarnoski, who previously directed the critically acclaimed The Pig (2021) and A Quiet Place: Day One (2024). The Death of Robin Hood was produced in Northern Ireland.
Aaron Ryder and Andrew Sweat are producing alongside Lyrical Media’s Alexander Black under the Ryder Picture Company banner. Lyrical’s John Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will executive produce alongside Rama Gottumukkala, Sarnoski and Jackman. “The Death of Robin Hood” is fully funded by Lyrical Media.
A24 will acquire the US rights to the film from Cannes in 2024 and will distribute the film domestically, while True Brit Entertainment will release the film in the UK and Ireland. WME Independent represents the film’s international rights.
“The Death of Robin Hood” will be released in theaters this year. Check out the trailer below.
