Glenn Close looks completely unrecognizable in the recently released teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The 78-year-old actress shocked fans when she appeared in a sneak preview released on Thursday, wearing dentures and facial prosthetics.
“Welcome to Panem, to the glorious reaping of District 12,” Close, who plays District 12’s memorial guard Drusilla Sickle, said before telling the audience that they needed to send twice as many tributes to “The Hunger Games.”
“It’s a double compliment,” Drusilla says. “The glory is double.”
It then cuts to a shot of the contestants facing each other in a grassy arena filled with plants and animals.
“Next year, a new era of gaming begins,” appears on the screen before the trailer closes.
Close’s appearance in the upcoming movie’s trailer comes on the heels of her recent co-starring role with Kim Kardashian in Hulu’s critically acclaimed “All’s Fair.”
The prequel film is based on the 2025 Hunger Games book of the same name by Suzanne Collins.
According to the author’s site, the book “revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, beginning on the morning of the harvest of the 50th Hunger Games (also known as the Second Quarter Quell).”
“The night has fallen on the 50th Hunger Games, and terror is gripping the district of Panem,” the description reads.
“This year, in honor of the Quarterquel, there will be double tributes from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy tries not to think too seriously about his chances. All he cares about is getting through the day and being with the girl he loves.”
Also starring Joseph Zada, Whitney Peake, Mckenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Maya Hawke and Billy Porter.
“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” will be released in theaters on November 20, 2026.
