Christopher Nolan fans can now take home the director’s latest blockbuster without the need for a 70mm projector.
The complete script for Nolan’s blockbuster mythological adventure is available on Amazon and is already a #1 bestseller. The 240-page paperback, published by Faber & Faber, was officially released on August 4th and is available for pre-order now.
Odyssey: Official Screenplay
The book provides readers with an in-depth look at how Nolan adapted Homer’s foundational Greek poetry for the screen, including dialogue and scene descriptions from the film.
The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, king of Ithaca, and chronicles his perilous voyage home after the Trojan War. Damon leads a vast ensemble that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal and John Leguizamo.
The film has been a box office hit since its release, raking in $124.5 million domestically and $264.1 million worldwide over the weekend. The film, written and directed by Nolan, is also one of the most acclaimed films of the year, with an “A” rating in the CinemaScore exit poll and a 95% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Interest in the film extends beyond box office success. Sales of the numerous translations and editions of Homer’s “Odyssey” have reportedly increased 76% year-to-date, and audiobook viewing numbers have skyrocketed around the time of the film’s release. This script, which has already reached number one bestseller on Amazon, follows that trend.
This release continues the tradition of releasing Nolan’s screenplays alongside his films. So far, scripted versions of Oppenheimer, Tenet, Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight Trilogy have been published.
