A24 has released the trailer for the new Hollywood drama “Misty Green,” written and directed by Chris Rock.
The film’s logline reads, “Years after her breakthrough in Hollywood, a talented actress whose career has stalled struggles for a second act.” Rosalind Eleazar stars in the title role, leading a cast that includes The Rock, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, and Topher Grace.
The rapid-fire trailer shows Misty’s agent, played by Grace, telling her, “Okay, it’s tough out there. We don’t even know if we can get you on Law & Order right now.” In the next scene, Rock’s character, the director, tells her, “Last time I cast you, you punched this bitch in the face.” We then see Misty trying to justify her lax lifestyle to a friend played by Kendrick. she tells her: “I wake up when I want to. I go to bed when I want to sleep. I get high when I want to get high. I have sex when I want to have sex.” Kendrick’s character then quips, “I didn’t know it was a Lil Wayne song, that’s so cool.”
Misty Green is Locke’s third film as a director. She made her debut with “Head of State” in 2003, followed by “I Think I Love My Wife” in 2007 and “Top Five” in 2014.
Locke also served as a producer on the film, along with David Worthen Brooks and Peter Rice. Miles Alba, Nelson George, Shaum S. Sengupta and Max Henke will serve as executive producers.
