Billionaire Heather Rey El Moussa has clapped back at a “rude” fan who insisted she didn’t have to worry about money.
The “Selling Sunset” alum insisted in an Instagram Q&A this week that she and husband Tarek El Moussa worked hard to build their respective net worths, during which one fan asked how she felt about not worrying about the finances.
“I think that’s a very unfair and disrespectful question,” she replied. “I come from a working-class family and didn’t have a lot of money.”
Heather said her father was a truck driver and “worked hard” to support the family from an early age.
“I never met my father. He left at 5:30 in the morning to support the family and returned home at 8:00 at night,” she admitted.
“My mother cut hair and raised us. She went back to work and became a librarian at the elementary school near me and my sister.”
Regarding her husband, Heather claimed that Tarek’s family “came from another country, started their life here, and built everything anew from scratch.”
“We didn’t come for the money,” she insisted. “Tarek and I have worked hard, both separately and together, to get to where we are today.”
Heather, 38, has a net worth of $3 million, while Tarek has a net worth of $15 million, according to Celebrity Net Worths.
She rose to fame in 2019 on Netflix’s Selling Sunset as a successful real estate agent who sells multi-million dollar properties in Los Angeles.
Tarek also got his start in the real estate business, launching his own HGTV show “Flip or Flop” in 2013 with ex-wife Christina Hall.
Tarek and Hall broke up in 2017, but continued to co-star on the show.
Since marrying in 2021, Tarek and Heather have successfully merged their families, co-starring on HGTV’s “Flipping El Moussas,” “The Flip Off,” and “Flipping 101.”
The former model is set to return to Selling Sunset in season 10 after leaving the show in season 7.
