A$AP Rocky has come under fire after he was caught on video telling a fan at a recent concert in Arizona that he would have been “shit” if he were single.
“Thank God you guys didn’t know about me when I was single because I would have ruined you guys,” the “Praise the Lord” rapper said in a fan video from the concert that circulated online.
The comment seemed to offend some fans on social media, as they took it as a negative statement in support of Rocky’s girlfriend Rihanna.
“Rocky is almost 40 and a father of three. He is so pathetic and needs to stop being so embarrassing,” one person wrote via X on Wednesday.
Another netizen reacted, “He could have easily said, ‘Everyone’s nice,’ but he said the worst thing 😭?!”
“The world would heal if we knew he was just a cheating loser egged on by the male-centered Rihanna for no reason 😂 He will never change, men will never change and it’s okay to admit that,” tweeted a third.
However, one fan pointed out that the line was meant to serve as a transition to introduce the rapper’s next song, “F-kin’ Problems,” in which he raps about his love for “bad bitches” and his propensity for sex.
Rocky has been off the dating market for several years since he started dating the “Diamonds” hitmaker.
They first went public with their relationship in 2020 after months of speculation about their relationship.
They have since become parents and share three children, sons RZA and Riot, and daughter Rocki.
The “Sundress” rapper recently revealed that their relationship is all thanks to her mother, saying that she inspired him to date the fashion and beauty mogul.
“My mom used to say, ‘I know you like the girl you’re with right now’ — she won’t say her name — ‘but I want you to be with RiRi,'” he told The New York Times’ “Popcast” in January.
“I’m like, ‘Mom, why do you keep saying that? She doesn’t want that for me,'” he said.
“Mothers know best,” he continued, adding, “I’m grateful that[Rihanna]was in my life at that time, because I don’t think I was ready for something like that before that. I don’t think she was either.”
