Box office, Disney+ boosts Disney UK revenue to $5.8 billion

The Walt Disney Company Limited, the Walt Disney Company’s British subsidiary that distributes, streams and licenses theatrical films, generated revenues of more than 4.4 billion pounds ($5.8 billion) in 2025.

The figures represent an 11.1% increase in revenue and a 37.7% increase in profit after tax compared to the same period last year, increasing from £589m to £811m for the period 29 September 2024 to 27 September 2025.

The figures are included in the company’s annual report and audited financial statements, which were filed with the UK companies’ register, the Companies Office, last week.

The annual report said the increase in both revenue and profits was “primarily driven by the strong performance of Disney+,” which saw both subscriber numbers and fees increase year-over-year, as well as box office revenue for films such as “Moana 2” and the live-action “Lilo & Stitch.”

That’s despite the company missing out on lucrative stage revenue for most of the reporting financial period, with “Frozen” in the West End closing in September 2024 after three years in operation, while “Hercules” only opened nine months later in June 2025.

This £4.4bn is broken down into entertainment, experiences and sales fees, with the former including Disney+, film distribution, theater and IP, with experiences particularly relating to merchandise, publishing license income and holiday packages. Sales fees include amounts received from group companies

The majority of revenue (95.6%) comes from Europe, including the UK and Ireland, with the remainder coming from other countries.

Operating costs remained stable as labor costs decreased despite an increase in the number of employees. The company’s headcount increased by 95 people, bringing the average number of employees per month to 1,981 for the year, the majority of whom (1,160) work in the entertainment industry. The number of experiential employees also increased rapidly (from 446 in 2024 to 461 in 2025), while office workers decreased from 385 to 360.

Despite the increase in headcount, total staff costs fell slightly from £266,191,000 to £260,797,000.
