Who Voices Toys in Anticipated Pixar Sequel

Would it even be “Toy Story” without Woody? Tom Hanks returns as the beloved pull-string cowboy doll. Hanks has voiced Woody for over 30 years, beginning with the original “Toy Story” in 1995. Outside of the animated franchise, Hanks is best known for Academy Award-winning roles in “Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump,” along with his work in the romantic comedies “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail.”

Trusted sidekick and spaceman action figure Buzz Lightyear will once again be voiced by Tim Allen, who onboarded the franchise in 1995. Allen’s other credits include playing Tim “The Toolman” Taylor on the ABC sitcom “Home Improvement,” for which he won a Golden Globe Award, and Mike Baxter of ABC/Fox’s “Last Man Standing.” Allen won an Annie Award for his work as Buzz Lightyear and also played Scott Calvin and Santa Claus in the 1994 to 2023 franchise “The Santa Clause.”

There’s a new sheriff in town! Cowgirl rag doll Jessie has been promoted, but will continue to be voiced by Joan Cusack. In addition to Jessie, Cusack voiced Abby Mallard in “Chicken Little,” and served as the narrator of the children’s preschool series “Peep and the Big Wide World.” Her additional credits include the films “Working Girl,” “In & Out,” “Addams Family Values,” and “School of Rock.” Cusack was also a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1985 to 1986 and starred on “Shameless” as Sheila Jackson, a role for which she received five consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations, winning the award in 2015.

Comedian and late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien will take on the newcomer role of SmartyPants, a toilet-training tech toy. O’Brien first began hosting his own show in 1993, and eventually retired in 2021. Before working as a host, O’Brien was a writer for “Saturday Night Live” from 1988 to 1991, and “The Simpsons” from 1991 to 1993. O’Brien has also hosted the podcast series “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” since 2018, and starred in the 2024 travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go” on HBO Max.

Lilypad, a new character and frog-shaped smart tablet, will be voiced by Greta Lee. Lee is best known for her role in the 2023 romantic drama “Past Lives,” for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. Lee also voiced the character Lyla in the 2018 animated superhero film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and its 2023 sequel, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Lee’s other film roles include “Problemista,” “Tron: Ares,” “Late Fame” and “A House of Dynamite.”

Puerto Rican rapper and musican Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) will make his first appearance in the “Toy Story” franchise as Pizza with Sunglasses, a forgotten toy anxiously awaiting his owner’s return. He recently headlined the 2026 Superbowl Halftime show and won Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” which honors his home island of Puerto Rico. Previous acting credits include “Narcos: Mexico,” “Happy Gilmore 2,” and several appearances on “Saturday Night Live.”

Actor, comedian and musician Craig Robinson takes on the role of Atlas, a cheerful talking GPS hippo toy. Robinson is best known for his role as Darryl Philbin on “The Office” and for starring in his own NBC sitcom, “Mr. Robinson.” Other on-screen roles include Ray Heyworth on “Mr. Robot,” LeVar “Freight Train” Brown on “The Cleveland Show” and Doug “the Pontiac Bandit” Judy on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Robinson has also previously acted for “Shrek Forever After,” “Sausage Party,” and “The Bad Guys” film franchise.

Snappy, an excitable toy camera, will be voiced by actress and dancer Shelby Rabara. Rabara is no stranger to voice work, previously providing the voice of Peridot for the “Steven Universe” franchise on Cartoon Network. Rabara has also made several television appearances, namely on “Glee,” “2 Broke Girls,” and “Goliath.” Her film credits include “17 Again” and “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers” franchise.

John Ratzenberger returns to voice Hamm, a wisecracking piggy bank. Ratzenberger has voiced the supporting character since its 1995 debut in the original “Toy Story.” The actor is best known for his role as Cliff Clavin on “Cheers,” for which he earned two Primetime Emmy nominations. Additionally, Ratzenberger has voiced characters in several Pixar animated films including Yeti the Abominable Snowman in the “Monsters, Inc.” franchise, The Underminer in “The Incredibles” franchise, Mack in the “Cars” franchise, Fritz in the “Inside Out” franchise, and more.

Wallace Shawn returns to voice the lovable, often very dramatic dinosaur Rex. He has been part of the “Toy Story” voice cast since the original 1995 film and also lended his distinctive voice for characters in “The Incredibles,” “The Simpsons,” “BoJack Horseman” and “Family Guy.” Shawn made his on-screen appearance back in 1979’s “Manhattan,” directed by Woody Allen. Additional roles include “My Dinner with Andre” and “The Princess Bride.”

Slinky Dog returns alongside many of the original “Toy Story” toys featured in the 1995 film. Blake Clark took over voicing duties from Jim Varney starting with “Toy Story 3.” A stand-up comedian and performer, Clark frequently stars alongside Adam Sandler, with roles in “60 First Dates” and “The Waterboy.” Clark’s most recent roles include the TV drama “Leanne,” “Happy Gilmore 2,” “9-1-1: Lone Star” and “Hacks.”

Known as the voice of Bugs Bunny across several “Looney Tunes” cartoons over the past 35 years, Jeff Bergman takes over the role of Mr. Potato Head from the late Don Rickles, who died in 2017. With over 100 credits to his name, Bergman has voiced everyone from Joe Biden in “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Odin in Marvel’s “What If…?” to Yosemite Sam in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” His most recent roles include “Tooned Out,” “Tiny Toons Looniversity” and “Jellystone.”

Mrs. Potato Head is a classic “Toy Story” character, and Anna Vocino took over the role from Estelle Harris after her passing in 2022. Vocino has provided additional voice work for video games “The Last of Us: Part II,” “Diablo IV” and “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” and voiced Jeannie in 2016’s “Batman: The Killing Joke.”

“Pretty in Pink” and “Designing Women” star Annie Potts returns to voice Bo Peep, who has been a staple of the “Toy Story” franchise since the 1995 original. Prior to being known for Bo Peep, Potts’ run of ’80s shows and films put her on the map, including roles in “Goodtime Girls,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Magnum, P.I.” and “Ghostbusters.” Potts received multiple Critics Choice Awards nominations for her recent work across three seasons of “Young Sheldon” and scored an Emmy nod for her performance in the ’90s comedy series “Love & War.”

Tony Hale is back as Forky after making his debut in “Toy Story 4.” The talking, googly-eyed spork now has a girlfriend named Karen Beverly, who’s similar DIY toy made out of a knife. Hale reprised his role in the Disney+ series “Forky Asks a Question.”

Following Duke Caboom’s extravagant show of posing in “Toy Story 4,” Keanu Reeves returns to voice the hilarious stuntman. Reeves is known as the leading action star of multiple big-budget franchises, including “John Wick” the “The Matrix.” Reeves has starred in everything from “Dangerous Liaisons” alongside Glenn Close and “Point Break” alongside Patrick Swayze. Reeves also nabbed producing credits on “John Wick: Chapter 4,” “Ballerina” and “Wick Is Pain.”

Dolly, the leader of Bonnie’s toys, is back after appearing in the last two “Toy Story” installments. Bonnie Hunt is known for her voice work in many popular animated films, including “Cars,” “Zootopia,” “Monsters University,” “A Bug’s Life” and “Monsters, Inc.” Her run of ’80s and ’90s on-screen roles include “Rain Man,” “American Playhouse” and “Beethoven.” She received Emmy and Golden Globes nominations for her lead performance in “Life with Bonnie,” the show she created, and was nominated at the Actor Awards for her work in the 1999 classic “The Green Mile.”

Forky’s girlfriend, a plastic toy knife, returns for the fifth film with voice actor Melissa Villaseñor behind her. Known for her stand-up comedy and voice work, Villaseñor’s credits include “Saturday Night Live,” “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” “Adventure Time,” “F Is for Family,” “Star Trek: Prodigy,” “Dog Man,” “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie,” and the recent Pixar hit “Hoppers.” She also appeared in “Hubie Halloween” as a cat owner named Karen.

Actor, filmmaker, and presenter Alan Cumming will make a first-time cameo as the voice of Evil Bullseye, a dark-side alter ego for Jessie’s trusty horse. Cumming currently hosts the popular reality game show “The Traitors,” and is known for his work in film and the theater space, along with his role in the CBS series “The Good Wife.” Cumming’s notable film roles include “Circle of Friends,” “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” “Nicholas Nickleby” and “Battle of the Sexes.”

Chef and actor Matty Matheson will voice the aptly-named Dr. Nutcase, a daredevil peanut toy who fears tech. Matheson first rose to fame with his portrayal of handyman Neil Fak on the FX series “The Bear.” Matheson opened Matty’s Patty’s Burger Club, a takeout restaurant in Toronto, Ontario, in 2020 and later opened Prime Seafood Palace, also in Toronto, in 2022. Matheson regularly appeared on Vice’s show “Munchies” and previously hosted Viceland’s “It’s Suppertime!” and “Dead Set on Life.”

John Hopkins voices Mr. Pricklepants, taking over the role from Timothy Dalton, who had voiced the character since being introduced in 2010’s “Toy Story 3” alongside Lotso’s gang. Hopkins has spent most of his career working in TV and video games, with various voice roles in “Lego Horizon Adventures,” “Rise of the Ronin,” “Horizon Forbidden West” and “Final Fantasy XVI,” as well as TV roles in “Paris Has Fallen” and “Masters of the Air.” He also appeared in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.”

Comedian Kristen Schaal returns to voice the Triceratops dinosaur Trixie after making her “Toy Story” debut in the third film released back in 2010. Schaal’s voice credits include “Despicable Me 2,” “Adventure Time,” “Gravity Falls,” “The Simpsons,” “BoJack Horseman,” “The Bob’s Burgers Movie” and “Big Mouth.” She was recently seen in “St. Denis Medical,” “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

The “Ghostbusters” star makes his “Toy Story” debut as Ernie Hudson, taking over the mantle from Carl Weathers, who voiced the character in both “Toy Story of Terror!” and “Toy Story 4” before his death in 2024. Hudson has recently been seen in “Boston Blue,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and the “Quantum Leap” reboot. Additionally, Hudson’s voice can be heard in “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” “Transformers Prime” and “Puppy Dog Pals.”
