HBO Max is releasing five Asian originals this summer, with titles from Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia set to premiere on Warner Bros.’ Discovery streaming platform from late July to late August.

The Taiwanese version consists of two HBO originals, both directed by Kao Pin-chuan. “Put your spirits up!” “Itaewon Class” is a 12-episode youth drama based on GwangJin’s popular manga and Kakao webtoon “Itaewon Class.” Co-directed by Tseng Ying-ting and produced by DaMou Entertainment, the series centers on a young man’s efforts to uncover the truth of his father’s death while keeping his family restaurant afloat. The cast includes Mandopop artists Eric Chou, Angela Yuen, Shao Yu-wei, and Ben Wu. The series will premiere on July 31st.

His second Taiwan production, “The Producer,” follows an ambitious music producer who overcomes intense challenges to realize his dreams. Produced by YIYI Pictures Co., the series stars Yo Yang and 9m88 and is scheduled to be released on August 28th.

Originating in the Philippines, “Call My Manager” is an eight-episode HBO original produced by Reality MM Studios and executive produced by Eric Matti and Ronald “Dondon” Monteverde. The series is a local remake of the French comedy Call My Agent, which follows three talent managers as they deal with the professional crises of their celebrity clients. Judy Ann Santos, Edu Manzano and RK Bagatsing lead the cast. The series will premiere on August 13th.

Also from the Philippines, the unscripted series “Come Dine With Me: Celebrity Philippines,” a local version of the long-running format in the United Kingdom, will launch on July 23 and feature 20 local celebrities and public figures.

To conclude, the Indonesian feature film “The Invisible Guest” will arrive on August 7th. Starring Mawar Eva de Jong and Reza Rahadian.

New content will premiere on HBO Max in select APAC markets, including Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Details regarding additional international markets will be revealed at a later date.
