Comedian and social media star Laura Crery has praised the first responders who saved her when she was crushed under a 600-pound refrigerator in a freak accident.
In an Instagram video, Clery was seen wearing a neck brace and talking to paramedics inside an ambulance.
“So I got crushed by a 600-pound refrigerator,” Crery said, looking up at the two firefighters. “Is that correct?”
One of the mean guys (both wearing dark blue uniforms) replied, “Yes.”
A stunned Clery looked into the camera before the clip ended. “Shout out to the real heroes who pushed that 600 pound fridge away from me,” she wrote above the video.
“This was right after I was hit with fentanyl and all my pain went away (instantly). I want to say thank you to the amazing firefighters who saved my life!!” the YouTuber captioned the video on Saturday.
“It’s true. They arrived very quickly, burst through my garage door, three of them pushed a 600-pound refrigerator away from me, and got me safely to the trauma room before things got worse.”
Ms Clery also said she felt an “overwhelming sense of gratitude” and reflected on how “this could have turned out differently”.
“There are no broken bones. The children are safe and able to walk. We are so lucky!” She went on to praise staff for being “calm and kind” and “treating everything like absolute heroes.”
“Then one of them pushes the fridge away from me and he goes, ‘Wait…I watch all your videos!’ And they all start turning me on 😭 Like a teacher… I’m flattened right now, but thank you 😂.”
She concluded her post with, “Forever grateful to these people. They are real angels. 😭🙏❤️.”
In the comment thread, Clery admitted that she was “nervous” about fentanyl before taking the dose, writing, “But the pain was so bad that they injected me with fentanyl. As a recovering addict, I thank God I didn’t have the desire to inject again.”
“That’s what we have to think about, even in the face of tremendous pain.”
Clery, 39, took to Instagram on Thursday to share details of “the scariest night of my life as a single mom.”
She said she was getting ready for bed earlier this week when “a 600-pound refrigerator slammed into me and pushed me onto the counter.”
She was “unable to move” and “couldn’t breathe” during the horrific incident, but her children Alfie, seven, and Poppy, five, with ex-husband Stephen Hilton were at home at the time.
“Thank God this didn’t happen to the children,” she wrote above a video of her being taken away in an ambulance.
The social media personality was able to call 911 with her cell phone in her pocket. “It took three firefighters to remove it,” she said. “I’m still shaking.”
She was also able to text Hilton, saying, “I’m dying. Come now.”
In the video, Clery can be heard complaining of severe pain after the incident.
She later said that her autistic son Alfie had climbed onto the heavy fridge and fell over, and that the fridge was “not properly attached to the wall”.
Clery also said she “seriously wants to sue” the contractor who installed the refrigerator, calling the oversight “negligent.”
