Tom Kane, the voice actor known for his roles in “Star Wars” and “The Powerpuff Girls,” died on Monday. He was 64 years old.

Kane’s death was confirmed in a statement posted on Facebook by his talent agency, Galactic Productions.

“Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane, a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions of people around the world,” the statement said. “From his unforgettable performance in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor and heart to every role he played. His voice became part of our lives, our memories and the stories we carry with us.”

The statement concluded: “His voice may be silent now, but the characters, stories and love he gave the world will live on forever. Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything. May the Force be with you always.”

During Kane’s long career, he voiced iconic characters such as Yoda (among other characters) in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and Admiral Ackbar in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’ He provided the voice of Professor Utonium on Cartoon Network’s “The Powerpuff Girls” from 2016 to 2019.

Kane also provided input into numerous video games, including the “Call of Duty” series, “Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens,” “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga,” and “Marvel Future Revolution.”

According to the actor’s IMDb, he started doing voice-over work in his hometown of Kansas City when he was 15 years old.

In 2020, Variety reported that Kane suffered a stroke that left him almost unable to speak.

The statement also gave a nod to Kane’s reputation as a family-oriented person. “But beyond an incredible career, there was an extraordinary man,” it read. “Tom was a devoted husband and father, and he and his wife built a loving family of nine children, three biological and six adopted or adopted. His compassion and generosity defined his humanity as much as his extraordinary talent.”

Kane is survived by his wife, Cindy, and children.
