Debbie is attracted to her much younger Egyptian fiancé, but what he tells her about his career clearly doesn’t sit well with her.
On Sunday’s episode of “90 Day Fiancé,” viewers were introduced to Debbie, a 55-year-old New Orleans native who is dating 41-year-old Mido. The unlikely couple met six years ago when he was a tour guide for her and her daughter Devin on a trip to Egypt.
Debbie, an insurance agent, is convinced that Mido is a movie star in Egypt, even though she cannot actually show her any movies or TV shows that Mido has appeared in.
Rather, Debbie’s proof that Mido is “famous” is that she has hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.
“He won’t let me see his work,” she told the camera. “I don’t know why. I asked him to send me reels of what he had made and he said I couldn’t understand what they were saying.”
“That’s why he keeps telling me, ‘When you get there, show me and I’ll explain what’s going on,'” she continued.
Mido’s aim is to become a big-name actor when he comes to America. Debbie worries that she won’t be happy in America if she doesn’t have the right opportunities.
Meanwhile, Devin expressed his doubts about Mido and heavily teased his mugshot, calling him “amateur.”
“To me, they don’t scream professional actor headshots, they scream like Instagram models,” she said. “He just needs a reality check because I know there’s a lot of weird sketchy stuff going on.”
Debbie explained that Mido never posts about himself on his social media, but he does post with other women, but that doesn’t sit well with her. They broke up once because he kept posting with an Egyptian actress, but he claimed they were just friends and it was “for work.”
Later in the episode, Debbie becomes emotional about Mido ghosting her because her father has health issues. When he finally called her back, he was clearly upset with her and wanted to postpone his scheduled flight to New Orleans within 24 hours. Mido instead wants to stay in Egypt for two more weeks and becomes angry at Debbie, who tries to help him change his ticket.
Debbie breaks down in tears, worried that Mi-do is becoming cold-hearted about coming to America.
“At what point in the journey or when do you make a decision? What are the challenges of commitment? And what are the signs that it’s not meant to be?” she asked through tears.
“I don’t know where to put it anymore. I’m really worried that Mido won’t be able to get on that flight.”
90 Day Fiancé airs Sundays at 8pm ET/PT on TLC.
