Donald Trump is calling on ABC and Disney to fire Jimmy Kimmel. Just hours after his wife Melania wrote in an X post that ABC must “take a stand” against Kimmel and his “brutal actions,” President Trump posted an even more explicit criticism of Kimmel on his Truth Social account.
“Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is never funny, as evidenced by his terrible TV ratings, just said something truly shocking on his show,” Trump said. “He showed a fake video that made it look like First Lady Melania and our son Barron were actually sitting in his studio listening to him, but they’re not and never will be. And he said, ‘Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look, Melania, you’re so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have the glow of a pregnant widow.'”
President Trump continued: “The next day, a madman tried to enter the White House Correspondents Dinner banquet room with a shotgun, a handgun, and numerous knives. He was there for a very clear and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are outraged by Kimmel’s despicable calls for violence and would normally have no reaction to his comments, but this is outrageous. Jimmy Kimmel should be fired by Disney and Disney immediately.” ABC. ”
President Trump and his MAGA supporters are outraged by Kimmel’s parody of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which aired on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Days before the actual event was to be held in Washington, D.C., Kimmel parodied hosting the event, jokingly saying that first lady Melania Trump has the glow of a “pregnant widow.” The actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was interrupted a few days later when a shooting occurred. Donald Trump, Melania Trump and administration officials were quickly evacuated from the event as law enforcement captured a gunman on another floor of the venue.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is aimed at dividing our country. His monologue about my family is not comedy. His words are corrosive and deepen the political ills in America,” Melania Trump posted on X. “People like Kimmel should not have the opportunity to enter our homes every night to spread hate. Kimmel, a coward, hides behind ABC because he knows the network will protect him. Enough is enough. It’s time for ABC to take action.” How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocities at the expense of our community? ”
Variety has reached out to representatives for Kimmel and ABC for comment. Kimmel was suspended for a week last September following his controversial comments about Charlie Kirk’s murder.
