Original series cast member Jennifer Stone will be returning to Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Variety exclusively reports.
Stone is set to guest star in the upcoming third and final season of the Disney series, which is a sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place. She will once again play Harper Finkle, Alex Russo’s (Selena Gomez) non-magical best friend.
Stone is the latest original cast member to appear on the new show. David Henry leads the new cast, which also includes Gomez, Maria Canals Barrera, and David DeLuise. Additionally, it was recently reported that Gregg Sulkin will be appearing in the final season as Mason Greyback.
This will be Stone’s first credited on-screen role since 2019. She previously took a break from acting to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. While in school, she starred in, co-wrote and produced the indie film The In-Between. She returned to Los Angeles in 2019 to pursue acting again, but began working as a nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stone played Harper in all 106 episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place and two movies. Her other credits include the films “Secondhand Lions” and “Nothing Left to Fear.” She is repped by Sweeney Entertainment and publicist Laura Ackerman.
In addition to Henry and Gomez, the cast of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place includes Janice Leanne Brown, Arcaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, and Mimi Gianopoulos. The official season 3 logline reads: “Still reeling from the loss of Alex at the end of Season 2, Billy (Brown) realizes the only way to save his mother is to reunite with his estranged father. As the family unites to find Alex, Billy realizes that they must work together to defeat the evil plaguing the Russo family.”
The final season of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” will consist of four episodes and is scheduled to air this summer on Disney+, Disney Channel and Disney On Demand platforms. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, with Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Rick Williams, Gomez and Henry serving as executive producers. Wizards of Waverly Place was created by Todd Greenwald.
