CBS is developing the crime drama “Flint,” starring Matt LeBlanc. If given the green light, the series will be part of the network’s 2027-2028 lineup.
According to the official logline, “Flint” (tentative title) stars LeBlanc as “a burnt-out LAPD detective who is on the brink of retirement when the city gives him a five-year extension. He breaks rules and disobeys orders at the risk of being fired, but unfortunately, it makes him an even better cop.” In addition to starring, LeBlanc will also serve as executive producer. The project is from screenwriter Evan Katz and produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
LeBlanc is best known for playing Joey on the iconic sitcom “Friends,” which aired on NBC for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 and received three Emmy nominations over the years. He reprized the role in the spin-off Joey, which aired for two seasons from 2004 to 2006. He played the fictional version of himself in the comedy series Episodes, which aired on Showtime in the US and BBC Two in the UK for five seasons from 2011 to 2017, for which he received four Emmy nominations and won one Golden Globe.
Katz is best known for his work as a writer and producer on seasons 2-8 of the Fox drama 24, and served as showrunner on multiple seasons. His other credits include creating UPN’s sci-fi comedy series “Special Unit 2,” which aired for two seasons from 2001 to 2008, and showrunning “The Event” on NBC, which aired for one season from 2010 to 2011.
News of CBS’ development plans was announced Wednesday at a press conference in Los Angeles, where CBS also announced three other series in development. Hilda! In Lights, a comedy by author Abbie Caldwell, follows a 72-year-old widow from a small town who attempts to make it as a Broadway star.
