Meghan had time for a brief TV cameo during her visit to Australia.
It has been announced that the Duchess of Sussex will make a special appearance as a guest judge on Season 18 of MasterChef Australia, which will premiere on April 19th.
The 44-year-old will join judges Po Ling Yeo, Sophia Levine and Jean-Christopher Novelli to teach and mentor Australian home cooks.
Australia’s Channel 10 announced the news via Instagram on Wednesday, featuring a clip of Yeo introducing Markle to the show.
“We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but never one like this,” she told the contestants, who erupted in applause and cheers when the former actress appeared.
The caption on her Instagram account read: “Passionate foodie Meghan Markle is joining MasterChef Australia as a guest judge!”
MasterChef Australia’s official Instagram account also shared the news, captioning a photo of Markle with the judges: “We’re welcoming someone very special to the MasterChef kitchen 🙌.”
“Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will be a special guest this season as she returns to Australia for the first time since 2018 ❤️ Joining a star-studded line-up of guest judges and culinary icons, Meghan will help coach some of the most impressive home cooks the competition has ever seen,” the post continued.
“This is a MasterChef series you don’t want to miss 👀”
Many fans of the show flooded the comments expressing their displeasure with the news of Markle’s appearance.
“How dare you ruin a good show!” one person wrote, while another added: “Where’s the dislike button when you need one!” A third said this showed the show had “really gone bad”.
One follower begged for the power to “advertise in advance what days episodes will air” so fans could “avoid watching.”
Another joked about Markle and Prince Harry’s past requests for privacy from their family, writing: “For someone who wants privacy and avoids being reported in the press, this is very strange…just like her own show! Very contradictory.”
But others expressed excitement. One person wrote: “Yes! Meghan is doing well,” while another added: “Love, love, love Meghan.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 41, met with veterans at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
The couple’s fake royal tour across Australia began on Tuesday with an appearance at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the same hospital Prince Harry’s mother Princess Diana visited more than 40 years ago.
Markle also visited a women’s homeless center by herself and provided meals to those there.
During her visit, Markle will also hold a meeting to discuss the launch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, but sources said she has no plans to meet with government officials.
