Katy Perry is under investigation by Australian authorities over Ruby Rose’s explosive sexual assault allegations.
“Detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating a historic sexual assault that took place in Melbourne in 2010,” Victoria Police Acting Sergeant Paul Hogan said in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“Police have heard that the incident took place at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.”
Earlier in the day, Rose wrote in a thread that she had “finished all coverage” of Perry, 41, who allegedly “pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her vagina disgustingly in[the actress’s]face” at a Spice Market nightclub nearly 20 years ago.
“This means I can no longer comment, repost or speak publicly about these incidents or the individuals involved,” the 40-year-old said. “It may seem like I’m ignoring everything from messages of support to other people’s experiences, but that’s not the case.”
The “Orange Is the New Black” alum added: “This is a standard request from the police and in many ways it was very reassuring.”
Rose explained that she plans to “start the healing process” and “move forward.”
Representatives for Mr. Perry did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
After Rose made headlines over the weekend by accusing the pop star of sexual assault, Perry’s representatives called the accusations “completely false” and “reckless lies.”
On Monday, a spokesperson for the songwriter said: “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious accusations on social media against various individuals, allegations that have been repeatedly denied by those named.”
Perry shared a powerful message the next day through her Instagram Stories, sharing her 2013 song “Grace of God.”
The lyrics are particularly centered around the ability to “get through” difficult times, and feature the line, “The truth will set you free.”
Rose claimed on Sunday that she had “photos” and “multiple” witnesses to back up her accusations.
The “Batwoman” star, who said she “vomited” on Perry after the alleged incident, added, “I told the story publicly, but I turned it into a ‘kinda drunken funny story’ because I didn’t know how else to deal with it.”
“Then[Perry]agreed to help me get a U.S. visa, so I kept it a secret,” she continued.
