Shudder has announced the acquisition of three horror titles that will debut at the Overlook Film Festival in New Orleans this weekend.
First up is Parasomnia, written and directed by James Ross II and starring Jasmine Matthews, RJ Brown, Sally Stewart, Stephen Barrington, and Danny Brown. According to the official synopsis, “Parasomnia” follows “Riley, a young woman plagued by night terrors and an unresolved tragic past. When her best friend finally goes missing, she begins to suspect that the demonic presence lurking in her sleep has come to the real world.”
“It’s hard to express how excited I am that my debut feature film will be based in Shudder,” Ross II said of the acquisition. “They are truly legends to me as a horror fan, and hearing their enthusiasm for the story and horror of Parasomnia means the world to me. I can’t wait to hear them scream when they play Overlook!”
Also acquired by Shudder is “Goody Goody,” written and directed by Raymond Creamer and starring Colleen Foy, Samantha Robinson and Zoe Rennie. According to the official logline, “Lured by the reassurance they need during the long process of home birth, we expect the parents and their midwife to begin to realize that something may be going horribly wrong. The family is trapped in their home as a snowstorm rages outside and increasingly ominous complications occur.”
“I’m a big fan of ghost stories and folklore, so I wanted this project to have the quality of a campfire story or fairy tale,” Creamer said in a statement. “The cast is special and working with Shudder was a dream come true. I really hope that horror fans will watch this film and feel comfortable and maybe even light a few candles.”

“Goody goody”
“Shingumi” is written and directed by Yuta Shimozu, who also directed “Rest in Peace”, and stars Yuzu Aoki and Pierre Taki. The film is about “High school student Ai sees her world come crashing down when a strange cult-like spirit gradually turns those around her into mindless followers, turning a simple gymnastics routine into a nightmarish dance of death.”

“New group”
All three titles are expected to be released by the streamer by the end of the year. In addition, Shudder will screen its films “Saccharine,” “Holy Boy” and “Face of Death,” the latter of which was co-produced with Independent Film Company and is scheduled for theatrical release Friday.
