Peacock is developing a drama series about Larry Rabin, a dentist turned drug lord. If the series goes to series, Lavin will be played by Colin Jost and Alex Burnough will serve as showrunner.
The currently untitled series is based on season 1 of Audacy’s true crime podcast, Wolves Among Us. The project’s official description reads, “Larry Rabin was a respected Ivy League dentist and family man by day, but by night he became the East Coast’s most elusive cocaine kingpin. This series is inspired by the shocking and absurd true story of a suburban dentist who built a drug empire behind the façade of the American Dream.”
In addition to starring, Jost will executive produce The Lovin’ Project with Jeff Grosvenor of No Notes Productions, who has an overall deal with Universal Television. Burnough and Absecon Entertainment’s Rachel Kaplan will also serve as executive producers, with Lavin, Matt Davis and Steve Seidel serving as co-executive producers.
Jost is best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” where he is a writer and anchor of “Weekend Update.” He began appearing on “SNL” during season 31 in 2005. (His work on “SNL” is not affected by the Lovin project.) Jost’s other credits include writing for the 2018 Golden Globes, hosting the 2018 Emmy Awards and hosting Amazon Prime Video’s “Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” which premiered in 2024. Jost is repped by CAA and Jorn Levine. Burns.
Burnough began his writing career on Season 3 of “Family Guy” and later became a co-creator of Matthew Perry’s 2011 ABC sitcom “Mr. Sunshine.” From 2013 to 2023, he served as a writer and producer on all 10 seasons of ABC’s The Goldbergs, and served as showrunner on seasons 7 and 8 in 2019 and 2020. He also co-wrote the 2019 Samuel L. Jackson film Shaft. Barnow is a consulting producer on Starz’s upcoming series “Power: Origins.” He is repped by UTA, Amplified Entertainment and HJTH.
