As the National Women’s Soccer League continues to grow rapidly, it has strengthened its executive ranks with two key hires.
NWSL announced Wednesday that Brian Kelly will join as chief commercial officer and Rachel Epstein will join as chief marketing officer. Mr. Kelly will take up his post immediately, while Mr. Epstein is expected to take office later this month.
The appointments come as the 2026 season begins with strong momentum, with rising ratings, record attendance and a groundbreaking crowd of 63,004 for Denver Summit FC’s first home opener at Empower Field at Mile High.
Commissioner Jessica Berman called the hires “critical” to the league’s next phase of growth, citing both executives’ experience in expanding sports facilities and building fan engagement.
“Through our research, it became clear that Brian and Rachel have the unique ability to help shape the next chapter of the League as we continue to accelerate our growth, expand our global footprint, and enhance the League’s cultural and commercial impact. We are proud to welcome them to the League and look forward to seeing the impact they will have,” said Berman.
Kelly joins from Top Rank Boxing, where he oversaw partnerships, sponsorships and media rights as chief revenue officer. His resume also includes senior positions at Bleacher Report, Turner Sports and CBS Sports.
Epstein joins from ESPN, where he was vice president of live sports and audience growth. She led marketing efforts across major properties including the WNBA and NWSL, and previously helped launch women’s professional soccer.
The league also announced further front office changes. Jessica Goldstein joins as vice president of partnership management and solutions, and Meg Buchan and Karlin Hudson are promoted to vice president of broadcast and strategy, respectively.
In his new role, Kelly will oversee revenue-generating areas such as media, partnerships and licensing, while Epstein will lead brand strategy and fan engagement as the NWSL looks to further expand its global footprint.
