Alex Duong, a stand-up comedian and television actor who appeared on the CBS drama “Blue Bloods,” died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital. He was 42 years old.

Duong’s death was announced through a GoFundMe page. The page was established in February 2025 to help the actor pay for treatment as he battled alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of soft tissue cancer that affected his vision.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we share that our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by love and dear friends,” the latest post on the GoFundMe page reads. “He was comfortable and thankfully not in pain. Last night (wife) Christina and (daughter) Everest were able to see him and he was attentive enough to say goodbye to his daughter, who he has cherished every moment of since the day she was born. We are devastated. We are so grateful for the support, prayers, and generosity you have shown us during this unimaginable time. Your continued support will mean everything as Christina and Everest get through the days ahead and prepare for a beautiful wedding to celebrate his life. ”

In addition to “Blue Bloods,” Mr. Duong’s other television credits include “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Mad TV,” “Dexter,” “Interns Anonymous,” “Death Valley” and “The Young and the Restless.” On the film side, Duong appeared in Formosa Betrayed, Ghetto Physics, The Beyond, and Sideways for Attention.

Last August, the Largo in Los Angeles hosted “Alex Duong’s Cancer in the Eye Comedy Benefit Show,” which featured comedians such as Ronnie Chen, Andrea Jin, and Atsuko Okatsuka.

“Comedians always cheer each other on in bad times,” Duong told the LA Times in a 2025 profile. “We know how hard it is to suffer and struggle and scrape by in this lifestyle. That’s why we’re able to do these jokes and keep getting better. It’s a beautiful thing to see in this world, it really is.”
