Kim Novak doesn’t feel very happy.
The actress said it was “completely wrong” for Sidney Sweeney to play her in the new film Scandalous!, which depicts the 93-year-old’s relationship with Sammy Davis Jr.
In an interview with The Times of London on Friday, Novak said the 28-year-old “Euphoria” actress “protrudes a lot above the waist.”
The “Vertigo” star also expressed concerns that the project would focus too much on her sexual relationship with Davis Jr., who died in 1990 at the age of 64.
In fact, their romance blossomed because the pair “had so much in common.”
“Sidney Sweeney always looks sexy, so there’s no way we wouldn’t have a sexual relationship,” Novak continued. “It was completely wrong for her to play me.”
Sweeney will star opposite British actor David Johnson, who plays the legendary entertainer.
Novak said he “never approved” for the next drama to be produced in the first place.
Page Six has reached out to Sweeney’s representatives for comment.
This isn’t the first time the “Bell, the Book, and the Candle” actress has made public her distaste for the film.
In August, the icon told the Guardian: “I don’t think the relationship was scandalous. He was someone I really cared about. We had a lot in common, including the need to be accepted for who we are and what we do, not what we look like. But I’m worried they’ll make it all about sex.”
Novak and Davis Jr. were romantically involved in 1957, but the relationship ended when Henry Cohn, president of Columbia Pictures, who had contracted Novak, feared that an interracial relationship would hurt business.
According to multiple reports, Mr. Cohn threatened Mr. Davis with mob violence.
Sweeney’s “Euphoria” co-star Colman Domingo is set to direct “Scandalous!” Filming has not started yet.
Despite Novak’s harsh demeanor, Sweeney is already becoming the character.
The “Anyone But You” actress wore a sparkling black beaded floor-length Miu Miu dress with a Novak-inspired gold brooch to the 2025 Met Gala.
Sweeney told Vogue on the carpet that her style was an homage to the dress worn by Novak in the 1967 film The Legend of Lyra Claire.
In October, the “Christie” star also told People that it was an “incredible honor” to play Novak.
“I think her story is still very relevant today in that it dealt with Hollywood and the scrutiny of relationships and personal life and control of one’s image,” Sweeney said. “And for me, I think it relates to this movie in a lot of different ways.”
