A security guard involved in the controversial incident between Chapel Lawn and Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter Ada has backed the singer’s explanation that he was not involved in her personal protection.
Pascal Duvier broke his silence on Instagram on Wednesday after the Daily Mail reported that he was the bodyguard who violently confronted Ada and her mother, Catherine Harding, after she walked past Roan’s table at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil.
Mr. Duvier took full responsibility for the incident with Mr. Ada and Mr. Harding, but said he was not part of Mr. Roan’s security team.
“I don’t normally address online rumors, but the accusations currently being spread are false and defamatory,” he wrote.
“I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual and was not part of the personal security team at Chapel Lawn,” he continued. “The actions I took were not taken on behalf of Chapel Lawn, her personal security team, her management team, or any other individual.”
Duvier said he “made the decision” based on information he received from the hotel, what he had witnessed several days earlier, and the heightened security risk at the location.
“My only interaction with my mother was calm and well-intentioned. The outcome is unfortunate,” he wrote.
The drama became a hot topic last weekend when Ada’s stepfather, Brazilian soccer player Jorginho Frero, slammed Loan on Instagram. Flero said Ada passed by Roane’s table at the hotel and, as a fan, only confirmed it was him, but did not approach or take pictures, before claiming that she and her mother were assaulted by Roane’s “large” security guard.
“My daughter was so scared that she cried a lot,” Flero wrote. “To be honest, I don’t know how in the world just walking past a table and looking would be considered harassment.”
“Without your fans, you would be nothing,” he said directly to Roan. “And fans, she doesn’t deserve your affection.”
Roan responded to the allegations in an Instagram video, saying that no security personnel were accompanying her personal security team and that she had never been contacted by Ada or Harding. The “Pink Pony Club” singer insisted he did not instruct security officials to “go and talk” with the two men.
“I don’t hate kids, it’s crazy or whatever,” she said.
Ms Harding later shared her side of the story, questioning why the security guard was not part of Roane’s team, explaining that she knew he was not a hotel security guard, but rather someone who “looked after the artists.”
“Did she send him to do that? Again, I don’t know,” she said. “I hope that doesn’t happen, but at the same time, I think as a public figure you have a responsibility to make sure that the people who work for you and are acting on your behalf are acting on your behalf.”
Roan, 28, emphasized his innocence in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“Chappell holds his team to the highest standards,” a rep for Chappell told Us, adding that the Grammy winner has “zero tolerance for aggressive behavior toward fans.”
“Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother and daughter and the third party security guard,” the statement continued. “As she said in the video, she did not meet them at breakfast at the hotel. She did not instruct her personal security or anyone on her team to have contact with them.”
