The more Margot Robbie there is, the merrier.
The “Barbie” actress has teamed up with Kylie Minogue for a new Chanel 25 handbag campaign that recreates Kylie Minogue’s 2002 “Come Into My World” music video, with original director Michel Gondry returning behind the camera.
In the campaign, a lobby parade moves through a soundstage that resembles a busy Parisian sidewalk, with each version of the actress carrying a Chanel 25 bag in a different color and size.
Just like in the original Minogue, a new lobby appears on screen as the video progresses.
While Gondry’s 2002 video was shot at an actual Parisian intersection, the Chanel version swaps out the actual backdrop for an LA soundstage and swaps out some of the original set, including a laundromat and a library. But the conceit remains the same.
Robbie has a dog, drives a bike, and waves to Minogue as she appears from the window wearing pink, recreating her facial expressions in the original clip.
“I remember watching this as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever, his famous on-camera trick,” Robbie told Vogue about the original video.
This collaboration has been in the works for a long time. Robbie and Minogue both started their careers on the Australian soap opera Neighbors. Minogue was in the late 1980s, Robbie 20 years later. And the actress’s first concert was on the Minogue Fever Tour in Sydney, where “Come Into My World” was one of the highlights of the setlist.
In 2023, Minogue mentioned Robbie as a dream candidate to play him in a biopic. While the campaign may be suboptimal, Robbie joked to Vogue that she was thankful the show didn’t require any musical chops.
“I can’t sing,” the actress said. “So I’m doing Kylie without singing and ruining it for everyone.”
Minogue told French content creator Lias that the project felt like a natural extension of the original video’s DNA. “For me, it continues the cyclical feeling of the video,” she said. “I know Michelle was inspired by the repetitive nature of this song, so we’re kind of doing another cycle here.”
Robbie has been a brand ambassador for Chanel since 2018, and earlier this month she and Minogue sat front row at Chanel’s fall/winter 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week – a look that, in retrospect, foreshadowed a future collaboration.
