“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has already made history on the web. The Sony Pictures trailer, released Wednesday morning, was viewed 718.6 million times in 24 hours, making it the biggest trailer of all time.
The Spidey trailer broke the record held by “Deadpool & Wolverine” with 365 million views. In just eight hours, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has been viewed 373 million times, already breaking the record set by Deadpool 3, which dropped during the 2024 Super Bowl. Coincidentally, Deadpool 3 has set the record straight by surpassing 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, which was viewed 355.5 million times in 24 hours.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day not only has the biggest trailer in movie history, it’s also the biggest trailer. This surpasses last year’s trailer for the high-profile video game Grand Theft Auto VI, which had 475 million views in 24 hours, making it the biggest video trailer of all time. To build excitement for the “Brand New Day” trailer, Sony released a small snippet the day before that shows part of the entire video.
“Brand New Day” marks the first time Tom Holland has played Spidey since “No Way Home,” which brought together former wall-crawler Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in an intergalactic blockbuster. “No Way Home” grossed $1.9 billion at the worldwide box office.
“Four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home,’ and Peter is now an adult living entirely on his own, voluntarily erasing himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the logline for ‘Brand New Day’ teases. “Fighting crime in a New York where he no longer knows his name, he has dedicated himself to protecting his city – a full-time Spider-Man – but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure causes a surprising physical evolution that threatens his very existence, even as strange new criminal patterns create one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
The cast includes Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Trammell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers. Producers include Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Rachel O’Connor, and executive producers Louis D’Esposito and David Kane.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will be released in theaters on July 31st.
