Chris Pratt has revealed that he hasn’t let his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger and their three children see the movie yet.
On Tuesday’s episode of Today, host Craig Melvin asked the actor if “kids know how great it is” that Pratt is the voice of “one of the most iconic characters (Mario),” referencing his role in “Super Mario Bros.” movie.
“My five-year-old, three-year-old and one-year-old kids have never seen a movie. Katherine is very old school when it comes to screens and technology and everything, so we’re waiting,” Pratt said of daughters Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, and son Ford, 1.
However, the Guardians of the Galaxy star took his son Jack, 13, with ex-wife Anna Faris, to a screening of the 2023 Super Mario Bros. movie.
“He thinks it’s pretty cool,” Pratt added.
The “Jurassic World” actor knows that at some point his three young children will think “their dad is really cool.”
“They don’t know it yet, but someday. But Jack likes me,” he teased.
Pratt, 46, and Schwarzenegger, 36, married in 2019, and the stars have been open about their close relationship.
In February, Pratt opened up about the “instruction list” the couple created before walking down the aisle.
“If you’re thinking about getting married, you should absolutely follow this,” he said at the time on the podcast “Literally! With Rob Lowe.” “They ask questions that you don’t even think about answering until you’ve been married for eight years, and then something comes to mind and they’re like, ‘What do you mean? How do you feel about that?'” And then you have to negotiate. It’s like renegotiating all the mines. It was truly amazing. ”
Pratt and Schwarzenegger created a “list of instructions” to include in both their wedding and partnership.
And just last summer, the “Electric State” star exploded over fatherhood.
During the “Today” show, Pratt said he was taking a more “sensitive” approach to parenting.
“My style is very much influenced by the way I was raised. I was a very sensitive child, and my father was a very tough and strict person. So I try to be a little more aware of my children’s sensitivities,” he said. “So I’m not that tough and I’m not that strict.”
Pratt said his wife has a different perspective on parenting and is “more of a rule enforcer.”
“We have a great balance there,” he said.
After all, the “Parks and Recreation” alum is happy to show up.
“I don’t think you can go wrong as long as you’re there,” Pratt said. “It’s going to be a mess. I’m not going to get it right, but you were there. I think that’s important for adults, when they grow up and look back on their childhood, to say, ‘Oh, my dad was there, and that was a good thing.'”
