Edward Norton will be honored at the Los Angeles Italia Festival with a special screening of Barry Alexander Brown’s documentary “Fasting and the Longevity Revolution,” narrated by Norton.
Norton will appear Wednesday at the annual pre-Oscar event celebrating the ties between the Italian and Hollywood showbiz worlds, which will be held from March 8 to 14 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Alexander Braun, known for many years as Spike Lee’s editor, will also be joining him on stage. Valter Longo is an Italian-American biologist and nutrition expert. Social influence producer Chiara Tiresi took to the stage for a talk that focused on the Mediterranean diet and “the relationship between mindful nutrition and quality of life,” according to a statement. The document, based on research by Longo and other experts, travels to Italian villages in Calabria and Sardinia, cities such as Milan, Genoa and Los Angeles, and the mountains of southern Ecuador, and “reveals that genetic mutations, fasting, or both can increase the lifespan of simple organisms tenfold and protect humans from cancer, diabetes, dementia, and heart disease,” the synopsis says.
Founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, LA-Italia Fest is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and other organizations. This year’s program includes the U.S. premiere of Anna Magnani’s biopic Anna: The Untold Story, directed by and starring Monica Guerritore. Special screenings of the Italian hit “Buen Camino” starring Cecco Zalone, “Oi Vita” with Pio and Amedeo, and “La Vita Va Cosi” directed by Riccardo Milano. A tribute to Italian singer-songwriter and music producer Tony Lenis. and Bernardo Bertolucci’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of Novecento, the blockbuster starring Robert De Niro and Gerard Depardieu.
The event will conclude with “Two Billion Hearts,” a FIFA World Cup documentary narrated by Brazilian coach Murilo Salles and Liev Schreiber, produced ahead of the 2026 tournament to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
