“It’s dangerous!” condemned Timothée Chalamet’s controversial comments about ballet and opera.
The game show disparaged Oscar nominees on Monday by sharing Instagram clips of three past contestants who tried out for the “Ballet & Opera” category.
Players Abigail, Ryan, and Dondi easily answered all five questions in this category correctly.
The show captioned the video, “NOBODY @ HIM 👀” and added a hashtag with Chalamet’s name.
Fans rushed to the comments section to react to this epic diss.
“You know you did something wrong when Jeopardy is throwing shade at you,” one Instagram user wrote.
Another fan joked, “What’s a shadow? 👏.”
Another said: “Crisis for the arts. I’ve got your back.”
“My favorite part is how much he was proven wrong since everyone answered at least one,” a fourth person noted.
Another fan thanked the game show “for this small round of applause on behalf of the opera and ballet community.”
Chalamet, 30, sparked a backlash when he disparaged ballet and opera during a town hall with Matthew McConaughey that aired on CNN on February 21.
After explaining the importance of keeping movie theaters afloat, he said, “I don’t want to do ballet or opera work where you’re like, ‘Hey! Keep this going even though no one cares about it anymore.'”
“With all due respect to the ballet and opera people…I only lost 14 cents in ratings. They’re taking pictures for no reason,” Chalamet added.
His comments received immediate backlash, with the Royal Ballet and Opera saying in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that “ballet and opera have never existed in isolation.”
The women of “The View” also weighed in on the show, with Sonny Hostin calling Chalamet “vacuous” and “shallow.”
Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg said “you should be careful” with the young actor.
“I probably didn’t realize it until I said, ‘Oh, I’m in trouble,’ and then I layered it on top of that and said, ’14 cents.’ Well, when people get angry, it’s a lot more than 14 cents,” the EGOT winner said.
Chalamet was involved in protests against ballet and opera in 2019.
He called this talent a “vanishing art form” at the time.
Chalamet is up for an Academy Award nomination this Sunday for his starring role in “Marty Supreme.”
Voting ended before his controversial comments went viral.
