It’s time to get the best of both worlds, as Disney has released the trailer for “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” featuring star Miley Cyrus. The special will premiere on March 24, exactly 20 years since the original show premiered on Disney Channel.
During the special, fans will see never-before-seen footage, recreations of the show’s sets, iconic moments revisited and even “familiar notes brought back into the spotlight,” Disney said. It will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an interview with Cyrus hosted by “Call Her Daddy” star Alex Cooper.
“Hannah Montana” first aired in 2006 and ran for four seasons until 2011, earning four Emmy nominations for outstanding children’s programming. The show, which follows Malibu, California teen Miley Stewart, who also performs as famous pop singer Hannah Montana, was a huge hit with children and teens. The production also spawned the film Hannah Montana: The Movie, which was released in theaters in April 2009 during the show’s third season.
In addition to Silas, Emily Osment played Lily Truscott, Hannah’s best friend. Mitchell Musso played Oliver Oaken, another close friend. Cyrus’ biological father, Billy Ray Cyrus, played Hannah’s father, Robbie, and Jason Earles played her brother, Jackson. Moises Arias played Rico Suave, the manager of the local Rico’s Surf Shop.
A number of notable guest stars also appeared during the show’s run, including Dolly Parton, Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Larry David, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Kelly Ripa, and Lisa Rinna.
