“Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette” is FX’s most-watched limited series ever on Hulu and Disney+, according to the cable network.
The first five episodes of the Ryan Murphy series have been streamed for more than 25 million hours since the series premiered on February 12th.
The show, which stars Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon, continues to grow in viewership, with episode 5 seeing a 51% increase in viewership compared to the first episode.
FX is also touting the social reach of “Love Story,” citing TikTok statistics where searches for both JFK Jr. and Bessette have increased more than 9100% in the last month, and the hashtag #lovestory has generated more than 21 million posts worldwide.
The influence of this series can also be seen in retail and restaurants. According to Bloomberg, CO Bigelow, which sells Bessette’s tortoiseshell headbands, has sold more accessories than any other company in its 188-year history. And the New York Post reported that reservations at Panna II, the East Village Indian restaurant where JFK Jr. and Bessette have their first date in the series, have jumped 40%.
A time capsule of 1990s New York, “Love Story” tells the romantic and tragic story of JFK Jr. and Bessette, starting from the day they met. The series also stars Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie O, and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein.
Episode 6 of “Love Story” airs Thursday on FX and will be streamed on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally. The series is created and executive produced by Connor Hines, along with Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Erik Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, DV DeVincentis, and Tanase Popa. Max Winkler served as executive producer and director of the pilot episode. This series is produced by 20th Television.
