The 28-year-old TV star has revealed he is entering the “final stage” of his life after battling skin cancer for the past four years.
Finian Garbutt, who starred in BBC police drama Hope Street, told fans on Instagram that his cancer had “progressed rapidly” as he battled back and hip pain.
Garbutt wrote, “I’m making this public because it’s really hard to tell people individually. I’m just going to put this out there now and hope that I can have a good time with my wonderful family and friends.”
“Since my diagnosis four years ago, I have accomplished many of my life goals: appearing in 30 episodes of a TV show, starring in a movie (scheduled to be released soon), buying a home, marrying my best friend, and being the father of an amazing baby girl who always makes me smile.”
Garbutt thanked his fans for supporting him and his family.
In a follow-up post, he shared a link to a GoFundMe created for his soon-to-be widow, Louise, and their one-year-old daughter, Saoirse.
“All I want is for my wife and young baby to have the life they deserve and I wanted to be the person to provide that, but unfortunately that is no longer possible,” he wrote on Instagram.
Garbutt was told her cancer was terminal just two weeks before Saoirse was born. He said the disease had spread to his liver and lungs.
The TV star previously chronicled how his illness led to his hospitalization for hepatitis.
In February 2022, the actor underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove 75 lymph nodes from his face and neck.
