Apple TV has signed Annie Wiseman, creator and showrunner of Physical and Imperfect Women, to a first-look deal.
“Imperfect Women” premieres March 18 and stars Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara as a group of friends whose decades-long relationships are shattered by a crime. The thriller series, based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, “explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises that irrevocably change our lives. As the investigation unfolds, the truth that even the closest friendships may not be what they seem,” reads the official logline.
“Physical” aired for three seasons on Apple TV from 2021 to 2023 and starred Rose Byrne as Sheila Rubin, a 1980s housewife struggling with an eating disorder and marital problems who embarks on a journey of self-discovery through aerobics.
Prior to “Imperfect Women,” Wiseman served as showrunner and executive producer on Season 2 of Peacock’s comedy-thriller series “Based on a True Story,” starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. She previously had an overall deal with Universal Television, where she was the creator and showrunner of “Almost Family” at Fox and “The Path” as co-executive producer at Hulu. Her other television credits as a writer and producer include ABC’s “Suburgatory,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Samantha Who,” Showtime’s “Dead Like Me” and NBC’s “About a Boy.”
Wiseman is also a playwright, with credits including Be Aggressive, Hold Please, The Essential Alice, and Surf Report.
