Mary Cosby is remembering her son Robert Cosby Jr. with a sweet tribute on Instagram, days after his tragic death at the age of 23.
“#godfirst #love #forever #❤️ I’ll miss you guys ❤️🙏😢,” the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star posted on Instagram Friday night.
Mary posted an image of herself and a young Robert Jr. set to the song “Time After Time” by Jessica Mauboy.
Many fellow “Real Housewives” stars flocked to the comments section to support the church leader.
RHOA’s Cynthia Bailey wrote, “I love this photo of you both. Sending you both love, prayers and strength. Love you Mary ❤️❤️❤️,” while Heather Dubrow of The Real Housewives of Orange County added, “Sending you love and strength ❤️.”
RHOBH’s Bozoma St. John wrote, “It’s amazing how certain photos can remain your favorites, depending on the context…” and “What you were saying or doing when this photo was taken comes back to you as soon as you look at it. I hope the good memories keep you going ❤️.”
Kyle Richards sweetly chimed in: “Beautiful photos, Mary. You were an amazing mom and gave him so much love. May his memory be a blessing 🙏.”
A Salt Lake City Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Page Six on Wednesday that Robert Jr. was found dead on Monday after officers “responded to an overdose call, which resulted in a death investigation.”
Shortly after the news broke, Mary spoke up and said she knew “he was finally at peace.”
“Our beloved son, Robert Jr., has been called to be with the Lord. Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in God’s promises and knowing that he is finally at peace. We appreciate your prayers and your trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of grief,” the reality star wrote on Instagram.
Robert Jr.’s death comes after his estranged wife Alexiana Smokov filed for divorce in November after three years of marriage. The former lovers secretly married in a Utah courthouse in August 2022.
The divorce was finalized in January.
Meanwhile, in the weeks leading up to Robert Jr.’s tragic death, the young man was charged with domestic violence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 23-year-old, who has been open about his drug problems on reality show Bravo, was charged with aggravated assault and assault causing serious bodily injury on February 5, just two days after his release from prison.
According to documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday, the alleged victim contacted Robert Jr. on Nov. 23, claiming that he became enraged after Robert Jr. dumped drugs in the toilet six months earlier.
The alleged victim’s name has not been released, but her initials are AS and she referred to Robert Jr. as her “husband.”
Robert Jr. previously served two months in jail for violating a pretrial protection order against Alexiana.
As part of his Feb. 3 release, he was ordered to complete 75 hours of community service and substance abuse and anger management classes during a 24-month probation period.
Robert Jr. had struggled with drug addiction, but the time off “allowed him to sober up and start thinking clearly,” attorney Clayton Sims told Page Six earlier this month.
“He’s looking forward to doing something positive,” the lawyer added. “The problem was that he was slow to recognize the dissolution of the marriage. But now he understands that the relationship is over and has moved on.”
