Rebecca Gayheart is speaking out after the death of her husband Eric Dane.
“I am so touched by the outpouring of love and support from our community,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday. “I have no words to express my gratitude.”
The “Urban Legends” star added, “You guys are really supporting us during this difficult time.”
The beloved “Grey’s Anatomy” star passed away on Thursday at the age of 53 after a battle with ALS.
“With deep hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with ALS,” a family statement read to People magazine.
“He spent his final days surrounded by his beloved friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia. They were the center of his world.”
“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same battle. He will be deeply missed and will always be lovingly remembered,” the statement continued.
“Eric loves his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he has received. His family requests privacy as they work through this impossible time.”
The “Scream 2” actress, who made her first public appearance since Dayne’s death on Friday, also shared an intimate family photo on Instagram.
The “Euphoria” actor shared his diagnosis of the debilitating disease in April 2025, just a month after he and Gayheart called off their divorce.
“I was diagnosed with ALS,” he told People magazine at the time. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as I navigate this next chapter.”
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress and Dane married in 2004 and welcomed daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, but separated in 2018.
After calling off their divorce amid Dane’s ALS diagnosis, the 54-year-old model explained that she was going to “show up” for Dane in order to break out of her “very complicated” role with the “Brilliant Minds” actor and be a “role model” for her daughters.
“(I tell them), ‘No matter what, he’s our family and he’s your father,'” she explained during an appearance on the Broad Ideas podcast in November.
“We’re going to go out there and do it with some dignity and grace and try to get through it the best we can.”
“We want to make sure we give them the opportunity to spend time with him so they never look back (and wish they had done more),” Gayheart explained.
She also confessed, “It’s very complicated for me. We’ve been separated for eight years.”
Gayheart, who has been in a relationship with Peter Morton in recent months, was spotted on a family outing with Dane last year while he battles ALS.
He said this in an interview with E Company in April 2025. News, she gushed about their amicable co-parenting relationship just the day before announcing his diagnosis.
“We are best friends,” he told the outlet at the time. “We’re really close. We’re great co-parents.”
As they navigate their new reality as a family, Dane dates actress Priya Jain.
In an emotional essay written for The Cut in December 2025, Gayheart declared, “Our love may not be romantic, but it is familial.”
