Rebecca Gayheart has made her first public appearance since the death of her husband Eric Dane.
The actress was photographed wearing a beige trench coat as she left the Los Angeles home where the “Grey’s Anatomy” star lived before her death on Thursday.
Gayheart also wore glasses and wore her hair in an updo when she was out in the dark. She was carrying a black leather handbag as she left the premises on Friday.
The “Euphoria” actor passed away on Thursday at the age of 53 after a battle with ALS.
“It is with deep hearts that we share the news that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with ALS,” the family’s statement to People said.
“He spent his final days surrounded by his beloved friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia. They were the center of his world.”
The statement continued in part: “Throughout his battle with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same battle. He will be deeply missed and will always be remembered with love.”
The “Brilliant Mind” actor revealed his serious diagnosis in April 2025 — just weeks after he and Gayheart, 54, called off their divorce.
At the time, he told People magazine, “I’m grateful to have my loving family by my side as I move forward with this next chapter.”
The longtime couple married in 2004 and had daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, before Gayheart filed for divorce in 2018.
Gayheart called off the divorce last year while Dane was diagnosed with ALS, but has since detailed her “very complex” role in Dane’s life, explaining that she was committed to “showing up” for Dane and being a “role model” to her teenage daughters.
“(I tell them), ‘No matter what, he’s our family and he’s your father,'” she said during an appearance on the Broad Ideas podcast in November 2025.
“We want to make sure we give them the opportunity to spend time with him so they never look back (and wish they had done more),” Gayheart explained.
The actress, who was in a relationship with Peter Morton before Dane’s death, was spotted on a family outing with her husband last year amid his health battle.
Meanwhile, Dane dated Janelle Shirtcliff as his family navigated the debilitating reality of ALS.
The actor blamed himself for his breakup with Gayheart during a pre-recorded interview for Netflix’s “Famous Last Words: Eric Dane.”
“I think Rebecca was more willing to show up and do her part than I was,” he told Brad Falchuk in footage released after his death.
“I don’t have the genes that make me want to keep going no matter what happens,” he continued. “I’m like, ‘If there’s a hole in the boat, don’t try to plug it. Just sink the damn thing and find a new hole.'”
Dane also called his role model wife a “fighter.”
“We still love each other deeply,” he said. “I think we don’t want to live together. But there’s a lot of love there.”
On Saturday, Gayheart took to her Instagram Stories to share a series of intimate photos from her life with her daughters.
She also reshared a link to a fundraiser set up by Dane’s friends in the hours after his death. Gayheart wrote “Thank you” on top of the uploaded file, along with broken and hurt heart emojis.
