Kaley Cuoco has revealed the secret to her successful relationship with Tom Pelphrey: living in separate beds.
The Big Bang Theory alum revealed on Monday’s Armchair Expert podcast that it was her fiancé, 43, who suggested they spend the night in their guest room.
The actor, who was in bed with his two-year-old daughter Matilda and multiple rescue dogs, finally declared: “I can’t do this anymore.”
Cuoco, 40, admitted that she and Pelfrey already have “different sleep schedules” and are always “tiptoeing around” her partner in the morning.
“He writes at night. He reads. It’s his quiet time,” the “Vanishing” star explained. “That means he stays up late and stays up late on holidays. We established this from day one. I go to bed early and wake up early.”
When Pelfrey brought up the topic during couples therapy, Cuoco was resistant at first, worrying, “What will people think?”
She recalled: “He was like, ‘We don’t see each other at night.’ I can’t see him. It’s not our sexy time. We don’t cuddle. We don’t see each other at night. He said, ‘Why do you care?’ And I sat there and said, “God, I don’t care.” And he said, “Let’s try it.” ”
Cuoco said it was the “best decision” they made and that it made them “so happy” as a couple.
“It works really well for us,” she gushed, noting, “We love spending time together on TV, but we never do it in bed.”
Co-host Monica Padman asked if Cuoco was hesitant to make the change because of “trauma” from her past failed marriages, and she admitted as much.
The Flight Attendant alum was married to tennis star Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016, followed by equestrian athlete Carl Cook from 2018 to 2022.
She and Cook, 35, made headlines after living apart for the majority of their three-year marriage.
They lived together in 2020, announced their divorce the following year, and finalized their divorce in 2022.
Cuoco dived into the aftermath of Monday’s episode, recalling how “horrifying” and “heartbreaking” it was.
Similarly, she opened up on The Drew Barrymore Show last weekend about feeling “down” and “very sad” after their breakup.
Cuoco began dating Pelfrey in 2022 and detailed the news to Padman, 38, and Dax Shepard.
After meeting at the Ozark premiere, Cuoco “ditched” her friends to have tea with Pelfrey at New York City’s Whitby Hotel.
The couple welcomed Matilda in 2023 and got engaged the following year.
