It’s shaping up to be a weak weekend at the box office, with major studios understandably hesitant to release movies against the unstoppable ratings machine that is Sunday’s Super Bowl. This means that the K-Pop concert film “Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience” has a big chance of taking the top spot on Friday.
“Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience,” which details the famed K-pop group’s world tour and sold-out performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, grossed an estimated $3 million from 1,724 theaters in North America on Friday. Domestic sales are expected to reach $5 million by Sunday.
In second place was “Send Help,” which grossed $2.8 million at the domestic box office on its second Friday of release, a 61% decrease from its opening day. The bloody Disney-20th-century comedy-thriller, about a foolish, survival-savvy employee (Rachel McAdams) and her foolish younger boss (Dylan O’Brien) stranded together on a remote island, is expected to add $9 million to $10 million through Sunday, taking its domestic gross to $34 million. “Send Help” ranked second on Friday, but is expected to win over the weekend.
In third place was Angel Studio’s new film “Solo Mio,” which grossed an estimated $2.7 million from 3,052 theaters. The romantic comedy will collect $6.6 million by Sunday. Starring Kevin James, the film tells the story of a man left at the altar who decides to go on a honeymoon alone.
Indie distributor Angel Studios entered the theatrical market with 2023’s The Sound of Freedom, which became a sleeper hit, grossing $250 million worldwide. Other recent titles include “David,” “The Senior,” and “Grow.”
“Iron Lung,” the feature directorial debut of YouTube star Marc “Marcpreet” Fischbacher, ranked No. 4 at the domestic box office on Friday with $2.04 million, according to Rival estimates. This is a 77% decrease from the first day’s revenue. Based on the 2022 indie horror game, the film follows a prisoner who must scavenge for resources in a bloodbath in a post-apocalyptic future. “Iron Lung” is expected to gross $5.7 million by Sunday, for a domestic total of $30.7 million.
Fischbach served as co-director with “Iron Lung” game developer David Szymanski. He also wrote, edited, executive produced, distributed, financed, edited and starred in the film. After “Iron Lung” grossed $21 in its first release, Fischbacher went live on his YouTube channel to express his emotional gratitude to his fans.
In seventh place was the horror newcomer “The Strangers: Chapter 3,” which grossed $1.58 million from 2,565 theaters in North America on Friday. The third and final installment of the rebooted “Strangers” trilogy is expected to cut $3.8 million through Sunday. The Strangers: Chapter 3, starring Madeleine Petsch, Gabriel Basso, Floy Gutierrez and Emma Horvath, follows a young woman who is relentlessly pursued by a trio of masked psychopaths.
The original “Strangers” movie was released in 2008, and the sequel “Strangers: Prey of the Night” was released in 2018. A new reboot trilogy began in 2024 with the release of “Strangers: Chapter 1,” followed by “Strangers: Chapter 2” in September 2025. These films grossed $5.1 million and $2.4 million in their opening day, respectively.
In fifth place was Vertical’s “Dracula,” directed by Luc Besson, who also directed “The Fifth Element.” The film grossed $2.03 million on Friday and should tuck in $4.1 million by Sunday, according to rival estimates. Caleb Landry Jones plays the titular vampire, and Christoph Waltz plays his nemesis in Van Helsing.
