Stoick has embarked on the high-concept dark comedy Damned If You Do and will begin the film’s global release at the European Film Market in Berlin, where first screenings will be held for buyers around the world.
Damned If You Do stars an ensemble led by Harvey Gillen (What We Do in the Shadows) and Kate Siegel (The Fall of the House of Usher), who also serve as executive producers. The cast includes Ginger Gonzaga (She-Hulk), Paulo Costanzo (Upload), Beth Dawber (Orange Is the New Black), and Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project). Mike Flanagan, who is married to Siegel, makes a cameo appearance.
Directed by first-time feature filmmakers Jake Rubin and Evan Metzold, Damned If You Do tells the story of a group of teenage friends who make the ultimate adolescent mistake: selling their souls to the devil.
Decades later, their lives have taken wildly successful yet different paths as rock stars, technology moguls, and prominent activists. As their contract expires at their 25th high school reunion, the group must reunite and rely on an unlikely former classmate to help them escape the clutches of Hell before time runs out.
The film is produced by Matthew R. Cooper and Uwakokunle (Corky) Imasogie of Objectively Good Media (OGM), along with Lior Haas. Executive producers include Rubin, Metzold, Siegel, Gillen, Gilad Haas, and Henry Russell Bergstein.
The supporting cast includes Molly Bernard (The Hitman), Gillian Gottlieb (Soon By You), Matthew Stephen Smith (Too Hot to Handle), Liza Traeger (Survival of the Sixth), Ashley Austin Morris (The Invention of Anna), and Genesis Oliver (FBI: Most Wanted).
Stoic’s Nat McCormick said: “We’re thrilled to be able to bring this hilarious and extremely well-made film to the world.” “The cast delivers top-notch comedy, and the premise is exactly the genre-defying, high-class material that consumers around the world are looking for. We can’t wait for everyone to see the magic that the team has captured.”
Stoick has added “Damned If You Do” to EFM’s programming, which is headlined by the Sundance breakout “Carousel,” starring Chris Pine and Jenny Slate.
