Paramount has decided to release Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut “Get Right” in theaters next spring.
The film, which will be released nationwide on April 9, 2027, follows a talented but sheltered dance student who finds inspiration, love, and family in the last place he expected: the New York City subway. Storm Reid (“Euphoria,” “The Last of Us”) stars in the film, which is produced by Kenya Barris and Ani Weisband (Barris’ Karabo Inc. Society). Robin Simpson (A Seed & Wings Productions, Lead Bearer); and Bill Karesh (Offbrnd). Taylor will serve as executive producer.
News of the project comes amid a strong season for Taylor, who has garnered worldwide acclaim for her standout performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. Last month, Taylor won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and has been nominated by major award bodies including the SAG-AFTRA Best Actor, BAFTA and Academy Awards. The multi-hyphenate artist received his first Grammy nomination for his latest record, “Escape Room.”
In addition to Taylor’s film, Paramount also announced dates for new films from directors Jonathan Levine and Pozzi Ponchiroli.
Following the success of “Superman,” David Corenswet will play 1983 NFL draft pick “Mr. Irrelevant” John Tuggle in Levine’s new film, which is yet to be titled and has a release date of Christmas 2026. Michael Shannon and Isabel May also star in the film, which tells the story of Tuggle, the last player selected in the final round, and his “inspiring, heartfelt and true” story. He had a lasting impact on his team (New York Giants, Shannon plays Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells) and his teammates. Levine will direct the film, which is produced by Skydance Sports from a script by Nick Santora. The two also produced the film along with Gillian Bohler.
Directed by Ponchiroli, “Rescue,” starring Brandon Skenaar (“1923,” “The Housemaid”) and Hussie Harrison (“Yellowstone”), is a modern western that puts the skills of a rodeo cowboy to the test outside of the arena, and is scheduled for release on January 29, 2027. Director Ponchiroli directed and co-produced the project from a script by John Fusco. Shannon Houchins and Cliff Roberts.
The studio has also reserved July 16, 2027 for an untitled event horror film.
