President Donald Trump told Truth Social on Wednesday that he has directed all federal law enforcement agencies to assist in the search for Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who went missing last weekend after being suspected of kidnapping.
“I have spoken with Savannah Guthrie and informed her that I am directing all federal law enforcement agencies to immediately and fully discipline her family and local law enforcement,” he wrote. “We are dedicating every resource to bringing her mother home safely. The nation’s prayers are with her and her family. God bless and protect Nancy! President Donald J. Trump.”
President Trump previously told reporters that he would provide additional resources to the Guthrie family if needed. This new announcement means we are delivering on that promise with greater urgency and clarity.
Nancy Guthrie went missing in Tucson, Arizona, over the weekend, and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that her disappearance will be treated as a crime. Authorities said they found “very disturbing” evidence in her home.
“Yes, we believe she was kidnapped,” Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News. “She didn’t walk away from there. She wasn’t willing to go.”
On Wednesday night, Savannah Guthrie posted an emotional video on her Instagram in which she and her two siblings, Annie and Camron, shared a message to their mother’s kidnapper.
“She’s 84 years old. Her health and her heart are fragile. She lives in constant pain. She doesn’t have medicine. She needs medicine to survive and she needs medicine to not suffer,” Savannah Guthrie said. “We too have heard reports in the media about the ransom letter. We are doing everything we can as a family. We are ready to speak. But we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a shadow of a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and are ready to hear it.”
