Hanway Films has embarked on international sales for Legacy, the new horror film from genre director David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch). Exclusive footage of the film will be shown to buyers at this year’s European Film Market in Berlin.

Written by up-and-coming screenwriter Thomas Bilotta, Legacy is described as a “visceral, character-driven horror” and stars Lucy Hale (Fantasy Island, Truth or Dare), Oscar winner Anjelica Huston (The Witches, The Addams Family) and Jack Whitehall (Jungle Cruise, Fresh Meat).

The film, produced by Chris Abernathy and Eric B. Fleischman through The Wonder Company, wrapped production in the UK in November. Executive producers include Hale, Amanda Massetti, Joe Enriquez, Jean McAdoo, Stephen Brown, Ross Putman, James Harris, Mark Lane, and Vishal Dutta, with Jess Varley and Bly Hennessy serving as co-executive producers. UTA Independent Film Group represents domestic rights and HanWay handles international sales.

“Legacy” tells the story of estranged American siblings Leah (Hale) and Nate (Whitehall) who are reunited after the death of their father, who bequeaths them an estate in the English countryside. Determined to forget their troubled past, they agree to sell the property. But when a mysterious woman named Ruth (Houston) arrives, their plans unravel over a terrifying 24 hours as they find themselves under siege by a creepy cult and hunted by someone, or something, lurking beneath.

Gabriel Stewart, CEO of Hanway Films, said: “We’re delighted to have David Slade back on board and to once again deliver another powerful horror film with a great cast.”

Other upcoming films in post-production include “Dreamquil,” the debut feature from visual artist and photographer Alex Prager, starring John C. Reilly and Elizabeth Banks. “Billion Dollar Spy,” produced by Walden Media, directed by Amma Asante, starring Russell Crowe and Harry Lorty. Werner Herzog’s new film Bucking Fastard, starring Kate Mara, Rooney Mara, Orlando Bloom and Domhnall Gleeson. and David Michael’s feature debut, the horror film The Third Parent starring Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover.
